I know this sounds silly, but at various stages in my career I've given myself big treats. That is to say, I mean, I splashed out on a master prediction, a dream vision, etc.
I'm interested to know what that's been for you - or what you'd like it to be. What would you spend your money on today if you had a big splash to spend only on props. Just asking - what do you think? |

With an unlimited reservoir of cash, I'd consult with some pros and have several things made exclusively for me. If I've got all that money, why buy off the rack?

I'd produce a show.
I think its more valueable on almost every level to DO the work, especially with a creative team, than to invest money in toys than may go unused. |

I'd probably do something along the lines of the last two posts. I'd definitely throw some money at some of my inspirations for private consulting and development of my own effects props and develop a show. This is actually something I've thought about recently if I were to hit the lotto.

I would buy some of the fancy, mobile magic lanterns that were used in Phantasmagoria shows, along with a small theater (maybe an outbuilding on some private land) with a nice Pepper's Ghost illusion built in to it.

My favorite question for people (especially young people) is "If money were no object, what would you do?"
For me, the answer is to write books and perform mentalism. Oh yeah, that's what I do already! My criteria for buying books on mentalism or lectures or effects or promotions or four wallings is that the funds must come entirely from my performances. Nothing out of my other revenue streams. Like any other aspect of life, You do the show that you can until you do the show that you want! (Truth be told, if you're any good, the audience doesn't know any different.) Best wishes, Scott

I would donate to my church, Compassion International, take care of my family, invest some and just continue doing what I am doing. I am performing the kind of show I want to, so I don't really need anything. I might buy Pro Tools 11 to mess around with music, and maybe a video editing suite, but I have so many books, DVDs, effects and downloads that I can't get to.

Withholding all the snarky answers and going for the serious one: I would reach out to people in the craft who have inspired me, and who I think I could learn from, and say, "I'd love to spend an afternoon hanging out and picking your brain. I'll come to you, I'll arrange awesome food and drink, and I'll make it worth your while." With a bottomless pit of cash, who knows, one or two of them might even take me up on it.
Every problem contains the seeds of its own solution. Unfortunately every problem also contains the seeds of an infinite number of non-solutions, so that first part really isn't super helpful.
