We came up with a few contacts but it will not be easy. Even for people who live here, these tickets will be very hard to come by and there will be many, many disappointed fans. I told her about your dilemma and she was truly understanding. Also, she giggled quite a lot at the concept of getting bummed by Kate Bush. We are a nation with a puerile sense of humour. What can I say? |

I'd love to see her also but won't, but luckily these days we can be assured there will be a DVD.

In fact my home town of Ennis (population 25,000) had a thriving Cuban community, a huge Brazilian community, a healthy Nigerian, Russian, and Polish community. We had restaurants of a dozen ethnicity, and could get strange and exotic ingredients from around the world. You could hear ten different languages being spoken as you walked the streets. We still like to travel. Danny, you seem to be making the mistake of thinking the USA is a big place. Europe has twice your population, and is still small. You make your living in the resorts of Mexico. I thought you might see the value of a passport. As for Kate Bush, I knew a very good Kate Bush tribute act. Fantastic voice. We might send her over to the States if the real version won't tour.

Actually I thought she was Irish from her looks and her name. All the girls I have known name Kate have been Irish.

Danny, you are not a stupid man, so I assume you are deliberately missing the point. If two thirds of the population of a wealthy country decide they will never leave that country, even for a brief vacation, that indicates a mindset that is distinctly different from countries where we do chose to travel abroad.
And comparing the US to the EU is not such a stretch. You are made up of fifty states with a high degree of autonomy and self-governance, but with a federal government on top calling a lot of the shots. We are made up of 25 countries with a high degree of independence, but with a common currency and a central administration calling a lot of the shots. I can't think of any place more similar to you.

Tony, what is the name of the Kate Bush tribute band you speak of? Are they on You Tube at all? I would check them out.
Maybe a thread could be opened to discuss the value of world travel? In my youth I was blessed with enough coin to travel a bit , and got to experience other cultures, food, architecture, etc. I wasn't rich, I stayed in some very low level places, but as a young fellow that was no problem. I do recommend traveling for those who can.

The USA is large not only in population, but in area, making the logistics of international travel different than they are in Europe.

Our ancestors left just about every place in the world to come here and people are still doing it today.
They can't be all wrong. Europe-- Men in speedos, Women with hairy armpits, Lack of dentistry, Sparse use of deodorant... umm why do I want to go there? The moldy old buildings? |

I have always loved that video, Kate's impish sense of humor seldom comes through in her music, but this one shows it off well.
