Hello,
For those of you that have George Andersons material, what would you recommend as the best place to start? Also, why would you recommend that particular work? Has he written any books besides "Dynamite Mentalism", "It Must Be Mindreading", and "You Too Can Read Minds"? And from the three books mentioned, are there any pieces that you think are really great? Thank you for your time and opinions, Ty |

I have "You Too Can Read Minds" and I found it a little weird at first. It makes use of ST****s in the most blatently obvious way, no dual reality, no seperate experiance for them. I kinda thought we had moved on from the old "help me by ...." methods. Has anyone else had any joy with this book??

Thanks for your opinion! I thought that this thread would vanish forever!
Well when I ordered it (You Too Can Read Minds -- over a week ago) I didn't expect to find anything terribly new in it. But I've heard great things about Mr. Anderson's writings, and decided that I would order something of his, which is the main reason I started this thread. Unfortunately I still haven't received my order, so I don't know anything about the book. Thank you, Ty |

I have You Too Can Read Minds and find the material in it very useable...but then I have some experience with the instant st**** principle... while a volunteer may become "in the know"..they still don't' know how YOU got the info and are still amazed and even get a great kick out of helping...The introduction of the book offers great insight into the process. And those that dismiss the principal are missing out...
There is a card trick in his Magic Digest of having a person just think of a card they see in the fan of cards...I have changed the ending by forcing that card on another person...thus they loctate the very card the other person only thought of! In doing this regularly since the 80's it never has failed and ALWAYS gets gasps. There is other material in YTCRM not based on this and is good solid material and can be easily built upon. I think both YTCRM and It Must be Mindreading are worthy additions to any mentalist library given the very small cost. I do not have Dynamite Mentalism..could someone give a brief review and opinon on this? |

Thankyou MDSPARK I will definately be reassesing the use of instants. I guess it kind helps if they aren't difficult spectators.

Hi Mdspark
I have Dynamite Mentalism, in short it is a Q&A routine without anything written down. This is as close to real mind reading as it gets. However it is an old book so some of the info may need updating, but with a little work you really could make a whole show out of this. All in all I can highly reccomend it but it isn't for the feint hearted !!! Hypno |

Hypno,
Thanks for the info! Sounds like the opening chapters of It Must be Mindreading...give his take on the QandA with "no questions written, just a work of phrase" Quote:

I have NEVER had a problem..and ALWAYS complement them in front of the audience after is it over...then during applause say "you were great! Don't tell anyone how you did that!" You obiviously don't do these types of effects in small groups...just larger groups you want to WOW.... hope this helps. |
