Michael,
If you are considering WordPress then take a look at their free templates first. There are some very good ones out there. Just a thought. |

Try Wix.com and before all the self appointed experts start flaming - Wix does have a payment option so it doesn't have "free website" written on it.
Since I switched I have had many people compliment me on the site. They are easy to build even if you are not a web builder. Just takes some time and tweaking.

I think it well worth to go with a designer. But I also think it worth learning basic HTML and how to operate a platform like wordpress. The benefits and uses are as many as you can create. In the short term though, study other sites and create a vision for yourself. Good luck!

There are several mistakes most people make when running a business. The main one is trying to do too many things on their own. In the end, most end up doing more damage than good for their business.
To me, stick with someone who knows what they are doing. You'll be better off hiring a professional. I mean, why not make your own coin sh_ll or make your own suits. And why you're at it, print out your own business cards. You see where I'm going? It's always a good decision to work smarter and not harder. There are MANY facets of building a website that most people do not take into consideration. What's the goal of the site? Do you have proper copy? Who has written your copy? Do you have an editor? Have you planned a site map out? What type of lead generation do you have implemented or do you even plan of incorporating lead generation? Do you plan to sell products, add a blog, cross-promote with social media? Is your site mobile-friendly? How will people find you? (Forget Google...that's not the answer I'm looking for) As you can see, there are many things to consider before just, building your own site. While I realize that not everyone can afford hiring a pro to do it the right way, I would encourage those out there to at least hold off on a site rather than put one up themselves and make their business look amateurish. |

Be very careful with Wix. I was consulting for a client and he wanted a new website design. He used wix. Problem was Wix OWNED his domain name and I was unable to change the name servers to point to my domain. It is a known issue.

This can be common with many such "free" or "do it yourself" hosts.

Gmbwebworks.com has worked on maintaining the Magic Café since its inception.
I know nothing about websites, so when it was time for me to build my website, I contacted Gene and Mary at gmbwebworks.com and they had me up and running with a very nice website within 24 hours and then refined it while it was up and running. Mary is very patient and understanding of my requests and really works hard to satisfy me. Whenever I need an update I send an email with the information and it’s completed in a very short time. Both Gene and Mary perform a wonderful job here so please consider that they can also perform a wonderful job on your website as well; truly say thank you and support Mary and Gene, talk to them about your magic related website. Send an email to mary@gmbwebworks.com, they build and operate hosting services. |
