For those of you who visit reddit, I've started a new subreddit all about mental math, as well as occasionally helping you wrap your head around math concepts you may have thought too difficult. You can find it here: http://www.reddit.com/r/mentalmath/
Please drop by, as I'd love to hear your comments, questions, and see what resources, links, and thoughts you have to share! |

Thanks, Mike!
I'm trying to encourage submissions by others. Perhaps you have a tutorial or 2 related to mental math you'd care to share? ![]() |

Mike,
Thanks for posting some of your tutorials! It's interesting that you posted the Knight's Tour tutorial in there. It's certainly very mathematical, but generally not a tutorial on the type of math that you would do in your head. On the other hand, it does a great job of wrapping your head around the concept of solving a mathematical and procedural challenge. It's almost right on the edge of what I had in mind for the MentalMath subreddit. I posted a link to *Knight's Tour Notes* in the comments section to help more people see the mathematical aspect of it: http://www.reddit.com/r/mentalmath/comme......ing_app/ The next time you have a chance, I'd love to see links to your Cube Root and Fifth Root pages in there! Thanks again for your support, Mike! |

Scott - I did dither about whether the Knight's Tour was appropriate but decided that it was essentially mathematical and also that it can be done in your head (some people can even do it blindfold!).
I have just added my cube roots tutorial and will add the fifth roots when the Reddit system lets me (there seems to be a restriction on making more than one post in a short period of time). Mike |
