I've searched online but can't find prices cheaper than Cosco. In Kitchener, ON we have a couple local stores:
KW Surplus and Len Mills, which will sometimes get an shipment of bicycle playing cards which are as cheap as Cosco. |

The price for cards at Costco has recently increased. It is still a great deal at $13.99 for 9 decks of Bikes. Works out to $1.55 per deck.

Hi guys,
I don't intend to hijack this post but since it is answered, I wish to add another question. I reside in Ottawa and recently came across penguin website. I was just curious that since the deliveries come from the USA, do Canadians pay any custom duties or brokerage fees to Canada post/ other shipment agency while receiving the item? I ask this because maybe some of you have dealt with Penguin before and because I have paid import custom duties of 25$ (upon receipt) on some items I received from USA through DHL in the past. They refuse to deliver the package if you don't pay up. Have you had any such experience? Thanks, Chaitanya |

That brokerage fee is usually $25-$35. And then GST, PST, customs charges, etc. will be on top of that. However, if you can find a U.S. magic dealer who is willing to ship via USPS (United States Postal Service), which connects with Canada Post in our country, then you often don't have to pay that brokerage fee (just the taxes). Or if you have to pay a brokerage fee on top of the taxes, it is often a minimal fee, like $5. In fact, there have been a few times that I've lucked out on magic purchases and haven't had to pay any brokerage fees or taxes at all. I bought a new magic table (and 2 side tables) from ShowTime Magic Products last fall, and I didn't have to pay any taxes on it when the huge parcel arrived at my post office. (I was prepared to pay, but I didn't have to.) Just a couple of months ago I ordered some BOR items from Loftus International, and I didn't have to pay taxes or a brokerage fee again. This was a larger order, $500+ worth of items in a larger box. (Again, I was prepared to pay, but didn't have to. I've had to pay another time when I ordered from Loftus.) Keep in mind, it doesn't always work out that way. I had to pay about $200 in taxes, etc. when I bought a new Botania trick from Hughes Magic in the Fall of 2013. And I thought that was fair, given the value of the prop. In the case of those 3 stories, I asked for all items to be shipped via USPS / Canada Post, even if the cost was a little more. And I asked for insurance on the parcel, and asked for the shipper to declare actual value (for reasons of insurance). - Donald P.S. I have a friend who prints some of my promotional products through GotPrint in California. Then they ship directly to me. They are shipped via FedEx, but they have a system where I guess GotPrint takes care of the brokerage fees and taxes on their end. I've never had to pay anything, which I thought was really surprising (considering all of my previous experiences with importing items from the U.S. via FedEx). But he said that was something he had arranged with GotPrint, for when they ship to Canada. I've had 10+ shipments via FedEx from GotPrint, and I've never had to pay on my end. This is the exception to the rule.

For a flat shipping fee of about $10 canadian, you can order cards from the well-stocked, Vanishing Rabbit a mail order and brick and mortar out of Calgary. They have a good selection and the owner is a nice guy.

Wal-Mart is the way to go for Bicycles and Bees, even had some Guardians for quite cheap quite a while back. I bought all four packs and they never had them afterwards..... Bummer! You can also find a three pack of Bicycles at Canadian tire for around ten bucks too! (Red black & blue)
