Hi all,
First point : I registered using my business name BEFORE I read the rules and etiquette (duh!). The rules say "if you decide you would like to have your username changed, please do not hesitate to ask." How!!?? There is no contact info. The only email addresses I could find are those of the staff so I emailed the first two names described as 'forum staff'. First one bounced, second, no reply after 10 days. So, second point : I would be delighted to change my username to my real name - Steve Cormack - if someone tells me how. Third point : I make trick dice and this website and forum have been good enough to refer a lot of enquiries my way over many years. I have recently completed a major overhaul of my website which means that old links to it will probably not work. I want to ask where, how and if I should post the the new links. Any advice much appreciated. |

I changed your username for you. With regard to links, maybe someone else can help you there.
Somebody kick me off the computer, will ya?

Thanks Gene, That's points one and two taken care of.
Anybody for point three? Is there another place in the forums that would be more appropriate for this question? I want to ask where, how and if I should post the updated links to my trick dice website. Cheers. |

Steve, as to point 3, this is what we call advertising and you must purchase ad space for that purpose. Once you do that, you won't need a link to your website and the banner ad that is set up will take care of that

Thanks, Dave.
I guess you've answered my question "if I should be posting my links". The answer's "No!" That's OK, though, that's why I asked. It must be that users of the forums have discussed my website from time to time and passed on a link. I can tell from Google Analytics that I get regular referrals from this site. I'm afraid that I can't afford to take out paid advertising. I'll leave things as they are. I've set up 're-directs' that ought to take care of any old links, and eventually, the new links will be picked up. Having said that, there is one site which has been sending people to a page of mine that hasn't existed for at least 15 years, and they provide absolutely no way of contacting them. OK, thanks for your help. |

Could you not put a link in your signature? Don't contravene the rules though:
"As mentioned above, you may place your website address or E-mail address as part of your signature as long as it is not written like an advert." (http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewtopic.php?topic=17&forum=39) |

You could but it's a little difficult to provide a link to an advertising site without it being advertising
