I see it a lot in stage shows that involve doves. A silky will "turn" into a paper airplane and fly around or off the stage. Can anyone name this effect?

It's hard to tell what you are describing. If you are referring to making a dove fly around the stage--or even more impressive around the audience like the late Simon Levcowitz did--it involves training. I don't know of a specific effect, but I'm no "dove yanker" either.

No, I just see it in a lot of dove shows. Has nothing to do with doves. A silk is lying on a table, and the magician pulls in it. It then flies off the stage looking like a paper airplane or something.
Here is a video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pVmp1cc2Wxo The effect I am referring to is the very first one he does. I've seen it in quite a few shows. |

Neil Foster was doing this 40+ years ago.
He used a basic gimmick and that's all I'm going to say about it. We don't discuss methods in this forum.

Clue: Do a Café search with the keyword "hummingbird", and that should take you in the right direction for further information, as long as you're willing to do some research.
