While I acknowledge that Elvis sang every song he sang well, in "Kentucky Rain" it sounds like his heart is breaking.

Yeah that's a fine tune. Eddie Rabbitt's style of writing on this song was perfect for Elvis especially when you think about the time he recorded it right around the same time him and precilla broke up. He was recording a lot of sad song and was literally wearing his heart on his sleeve at that point in time. When he sings you were always on my mind as well you cAn hear a lot of heartbreak in his voice.

On Elvis' final 1977 tour, he stopped at Wings Stadium in Kalamazoo, Michigan. That same jump suit he wore is on display at Graceland as his final touring costume. "An American Trilogy" performed live by Elvis is my personal favorite. When Ben Portsmouth from England did "An American Trilogy" during Elvis Week on the David Letterman show on CBS, I almost started crying. Go to www.youtube.com and put "Ben Portsmouth David Letterman" in the search box and enjoy. Just absolutely amazing. My wife and I listen to the Elvis Channel 19 on Sirius Radio all the time, Saturday nights and Sunday mornings are great times to listen. My wife and I were married about two weeks after Elvis' death, so we always remember the time 36 years ago- 37 years ago this August.

This is fast becoming a big fave video for me. I haven't seen many '77 videos like this one, and upon viewing I get some insight into why one of the Sweet Inspirations back up singers said in an interview she didn't notice just how unwell Elvis was at the time. This is a song of his I listened to quite a bit early on when I was in my early teens, I think in the late '80s. The 10th Anniversary of his death was a huge deal in 1987 and that's when I got hooked. Smile See this fantastic performance- interpretive Karate- very cool! Smile

I'm back. Smile

Goodness gracious, my sister and I had a LOT of fun dancing to this song in 1987, I believe it was. Could have been '88 but I think it was '87. I was working on that right arm motion. Fun, indeed! Try it! Smile

My brother was a huge Elvis fan. In my late teens early 20's - Elvis could be heard all over the house.

"The Wonder of You" was his favorite.

Tomorrow is his 10th anniversary.

Thought you might like this:

I was thinking that night about Elvis
Day that he died, day that he died
I was thinking that night about Elvis
Day that he died, day that he died
Just a country boy that combed his hair
And put on a shirt his mother made and went on the air
And he shook it like a chorus girl
And he shook it like a Harlem queen
He shook it like a midnight rebel, baby
Like you never seen

I was thinking that night about Elvis
Day that he died, day that he died
I was thinking that night about Elvis
Day that he died, day that he died
How he took it all out of black and white
Grabbed his wand in the other hand and he held on tight
And he shook it like a hurricane
He shook it like to make it break
And he shook it like a holy roller, baby
With his soul at stake

I was thinking that night about Elvis
Day that he died, day that he died
I was thinking that night about Elvis
Day that he died, day that he died
He was all alone in a long decline
Thinking how happy John Henry was that he fell down and died
When he shook it and he rang like silver
He shook it and he shine like gold
He shook it and he beat that steam drill, baby
Well bless my soul

He shook it and he beat that steam drill, baby
Well bless my soul, what's wrong with me?

I was thinking that night about Elvis
Day that he died, day that he died
I was thinking that night about Elvis
Day that he died, day that he died
Just a country boy that combed his hair
Put on a shirt his mother made and he went on the air
And he shook it like a chorus girl
He shook it like a Harlem queen
He shook it like a midnight rebel, baby
