With all the nagging of people about exposure on this site, Why not consider making the entire site non-googleable? Is that even possible? I by no means know anything about this.. but

My curiosity has struck a bit... Im really curious about how many people on a magic site, aren't actually into magic. I mean, with YouTube alone anyone can find out anything.. look at all the little kids giving away secrets and they cant even perform them correctly. Or all the pirates. Does this forum really show that much to the general public? --- Its just an assumption. I have never ran into someone that knows about the Café. But I don't know all the facts. Im just curious.

I mean, I didn't even know about this site after years of being into magic, someone at the castle after I was already a JR. told me about it.

So is it just me, or do people just take it too seriously on this site and go overboard when they forget that they are just a group of people talking on a magic forum.

Has there really ever been any major cases where something on this forum has leaked to the general public to the point of ruining an effect or show for a REAL WORLD WORKER? (Not the computer chair magicians)

Again, I don't have all the facts. So I'm just curious more than anything... And if it is true that stuff has happened, I'm surprised that the entire site isn't private (non-searchable) already.

The Café never has been and never will be totally private. That isn't the intent. It's open and free to all. We try to keep secrets limited to certain forums but there are always some slip ups.

Talking about the ability to google subjects on the Café just makes it easier for the non-magician to learn about us.At the same time, anyone using google to find a trick or explanation usually knows something about magic to start with most of the time. Many times we tend to go over board in regards to google.

It would be almost impossible to tell if any leakage caused any damage to a performer. With all the you tube videos and blogs out there, a secret can be exposed from almost anywhere.

I've noticed that most of us members tend to not give things away. Oh, we may hint at a meathod, but we don't give things away here. We have to much respect for the art.

OK. yeah it makes sense then. I guess some people just go overboard. lol I seriously thought for a second that the things you say on here can spread like wild fire. But you hit the nail on the head with what I was thinking.. Most people that would google the Café or an effect are either magicians already, or someone looking to get into magic.
