Hi guys, imagine you can make 3 member audiences select a weapon (rock, paper, scissors) , imagine you can let them choose who would fight who and imagine you, without seeing them, can predict the result of any fight! You can perform this without any elements!!! is totally impromptu, and you do a real prediction of every phase and even you can predict the final result after many fights.
I ve been doing this for many years and I ve decided to teach this in my lecture , right ow I m lecturing all over Europe until June 16th so I hope you can attend and give me your opinions! |

There have been many variations of this put in print. The first time I saw RPS with a prediction was in Simon Aronson's "Simply Simon" in a trick called Child's Play. That book is nearly 20 years old now. I'm assuming the methodology is similar but if you've done additional work to advance the plot I'd love to see it. Alas, I'm not in Europe.

The Simon Aronson version is based on a Robert E. Neal effect first published in the Pallbearers Review and then later again in his book Tricks of the Imagination. The math behind it was first published by Martin Gardner on behalf of Neal in Scientific America. I've also published variations on this same thing doing away with the props that were used in the original. Those findings may be found in my RPS WIN book and in Heptagon Plus out of interest. They use just one person or two people instead of the original three person versions that Neal and Aronson took advantage of.
I'm always interested on new stuff perspectives on this plot - any chance those of us unable to attend your lecture may have a peek ? |

Enjoyed playing with Jack's approach last night at his lecture. Based on the Gardner principal, but lots of lovely thinking on blocking, staging and layering to make it interesting. If you're interested in this type of thing I'd recommend taking a look at The Jack's approach.

Hi all,
I went to the lecture of Jack tonight at the Magic Circle and I really enjoyed it. I recommend everyone to attend his lecture in their respective cities if they have the opportunity. All the effects were top quality and very practical. I really liked the presentation explained for predictions effects involving an enveloppe, as it is an excellent example of how theatrical staging can immensely enhance the drama in an effect. As well, the cards effect seems to have left more than one guy in the theatre without any clue. The other tricks were very interesting too, especially the Rock Paper Scissors that I thought was very clever. On top of that, Jack seems to be a great guy. Jack, good luck for the rest of your lectures tour. Olivier |

On May 16, 2014, Patrick Redford wrote: Correct. Aronson even states in his book that the only thing he added to the Neal effect was the prediction kicker--so to the best of my knowledge Aronson was the first to do RPS with a prediction. For those of you wanting to explore this plot further I can attest to Patrick's work firsthand. A couple of years ago he performed (one of) his version(s) of RPS for me. Some good thinking behind his approach and well worth checking out.
