From the trailer, this looks like the same material that was on his 1st DVD on Evolution of Card Manipulation, only now he is using larger cards, not jumbos, but the larger playing cards he has on sale. Don't know if it would be worth investing in, just to see if the finger holds are the same or different with larger cards. Looks like he has some transitions from regular cards to larger cards which is different and most like challenging to accomplish. I guess it depends on the price when it is sent to dealers. Plus the cost of his larger cards that were released on the market previously.

There are definitely some moves that were gone through in The Evolution (Like the quad and the fan productions) but from the trailer I can see that there are angles that were not covered originally.
I also see a bunch of moves not in the Evolution like the interlock production and the sideways double productions. The jumbo cards moves in the trailer are definitely worth a look, as the card are much bigger. So even though to a layperson it may look like the same effect but using (for example) a production from the JW Grip or Gambler's Cop, the productions are much more visual. Also, I'm looking forward to his handling of the teleporting/multiplying 3 of hearts as it is a move I really like. |

After watching the trailer once more, it seems like he has adopted the Lukas-ish kind of explanation - Pauses and circles of interest. Which is definitely a plus especially in those silent DVD as with most manipulation resource with a teacher who does not speak English.

Where can I buy this dvd?

It does not appear to be on the market yet. There isn't even a release date... (Anson Lee posted on facebook that it would be out on may, but that's highly unlikely)
However, given the fact that Murphy carries both Evolution and His manipulation decks, I would presume you could get his Revolution through Murphy too |

Right now it is only available in Taiwan but Anson told me that Murphy will have it very soon. Regarding material covered on that DVD here is a photo I got from Anson. He teaches everything he knows about jumbo card manipulations. There are only few DVDs about jumbo card manipulations (Harvey, Sanada, Magic of Hungary..) but none of them covered material that Anson teaches on this DVD. Personally I know that my money will be well spent if I learn his method for splitting color fans from the backpalm but sure there is a lot more to learn from Anson. I was talking him into making this DVD right after he produced Evolution so I am looking forward to watch it and learn from it.

Wow! that's really neat!
I remembered Evolutions was one of the DVD that I enjoyed watching not only due to the double angle and subtitles, but also how Anson Lee presented himself and the way he performs is very captivating too! This DVD is definitely going into my cart next time I'm buying from Penguin! |

Mickey MacDougall ~ " King of Jumbo Kards" ~ 1935

Thank you for posting that photo, it is so nice to see Jumbo Cards were being used back in 1935. So many of the old Vaudeville performers took their acts and methods to the grave. This does confirm that there is really nothing new in magic, just reinvented. It is so sad that the old performers did not feel their material was worth preserving for future reference. I have embedded the photo in the Café so hopefully it will not be lost for future reference. I have seen so many of the Photo Bucket pictures disappear from out forum posts.
Mickey McDaugall "The King of Jumbe Cards" how about that! Click here to view attached image. |

I take it that this is the same Mickey MacDougall who was featured in the "Gallery of Magicians" in the Dover edition of Wilfrid Jonson's _Magic Tricks and Card Tricks_?

MacDougall spent most of 1935 working at the California Pacific International Exposition. In addition to the Expo, he also performed at the P.C.A.M. convention that year, which was held in Hollywood. He appeared tenth on the program and was billed as "Mickey MacDougall ~ The Jumbo Card King Supreme". MacDougall got his start in magic at the age of 14, as an assistant to Horace Goldin. He was the boy who climbed the rope and disappeared, in Goldin's version of the East Indian Rope Trick. |
