I purchased this great effect recently from our very own Matcult. I have really been digging it, the cards look great, the method is straight forward and direct, and the fact it work's with Isabella's Star just makes it a powerful tool that can be easily carried in a pocket or wallet. Mine lives next to Zoltar and my pocket mentalism collection. Some of the routines I developed for the wonderful Codex V I can also use with Zoltar's Stars. Did I mention it is also inexpensive? Here's the official blurb, and the effect is as advertised.
Http://zoltarsstars.blogspot.com.au "Zoltar’s Stars” is simple and direct method to divine a star sign without progressive anagrams and with no information written down or spoken aloud. Using four cards from an old Zoltar cabinet, just like the one in the film ‘Big’ – this system enables a fascinating and revealing exploration of a sitter’s attitude towards fortune-telling, as well as a baffling Zodiac revelation. The effect can stand alone, but sits especially well alongside almost any oracle or reading system. Due to its fairground theme, "Zoltar's Stars" is a natural fit for Alchemy Moon’s beautiful Kadar range. |

Back in stock, just placed my order.
ZS will be a perfect fit for a routine I am working on with this authentic Vintage Swami Napkin Holder similar to the one on the Twighlight Zones Nick of Time. http://i290.photobucket.com/albums/ll267......original For those not familiar with Twilight Zone's Nick of Time, it is one of my favourites. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vz7tIC-IlxI Eric |

Very pretty. If this is the same method as Kioku from Outlaw Effects, then this is perfect. It appears to be from the image. So, so much cleaner than progressive anagrams.

Eric. Great idea!
I have one of the replica fortune tellers from the episode. Fully operational. It's a killer treat! I'll see if the cards fit the dispenser! That would be too cool! In other news, I've officially placed my order and can't wait. This and Kadar Pro should keep me busy quite a long time.
Things are about to change........ LIGHTS!!!

Got mine yesterday, very nice. Had to myself an idiot sheet to remind me of the starsigns. But that wraps round them quite nicely to keep them in the wallet.

In the past, there has been reproduction devil heads on a spring stand that is made with a suction cup to attach to the top of your napkin holder/fortune teller. Here is a reproduction of the actual machine, a Mystic Seer (which is actually different than the Swami machine you have). http://www.mwctoys.com/REVIEW_022012a.htm . The Mystic Seer machine in the TZ episode was a menu holder only. The Swami was a napkin dispenser and menu holder (yours should have a menu holder clip on the back). Anyway. The Swami machine is rather plentiful on the collectible market. But of course, they never came with a devil (neither did the Mystic, but the prop department at Desilu studios put the devil on the Mystic). But if you hunt around, you can find a devil to pop on the top of your Swami. Here's a trade magazine ad for the Swami http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-EQnyu1JJaC8/Ta......wami.jpg If you can't find the suction cup devil head, that big auction sight has miniature reproductions of the machine with a devil head that you could probably remove from the toy (the toy's are about $10) and use that. Search around, you'll find something. Just remember, you're looking for a Mystic Seer devil head, not a Swami. |

Thanks Al, for sharing your expertise. That's what I really appreciate about the café members like yourself.
I have the small Bobble head version and sold the full size replica version once I bought the original. I have been searching for a Devils head that is more aged than the new crisp plastic one. May end up aging the miniature Bobble Head. I never realized or thought about the menu holder on the back. A menu on the back could also work into a bizarre mentalist effect, possibly something like the Szechuan Sampler. On the big auction site they still sell the original fortune cards. Illusioneer, you are thinking the same as myself on how to blend the ZS cards with the Swami Holder cards. Thanks Mathew, your ZS cards are brilliant and have really got me going. Eric |
