I went with a couple of magicians on the streets, and busked with them. We performed mostly cards (Tipsy turvy, spectator cuts to the aces, ACR, etc) and bits of coins, rubber bands, and finger-rings. Sets of five tricks or so, quickly building crowds of 15-ish people, and then to the next. My first time ever doing busking. That felt great, and I did not stress up or fumble, although I could have gone much, slower.
I'm looking forward to doing it again, with more material for me to perform. P! |

It's great that you've broken the ice by getting out. Very nice that you have other magicians to help you along. Summer time is coming, more people are going to be out on the streets. I'd suggest that if you get some "parlour" magic tricks going - even just the way you display cards by holding them up high and swinging them around for all to see - you'll be able to have even bigger crowds able to see and enjoy what's going on. One technique I use with shuffling cards is to have the cards face-up - that way people can easily see the changing faces as the cards are shuffled. I use that move as one way to catch people's attention leading up to doing a show, with the faces of the cards showing to people approaching from the right of me, then swap shuffling hands and shuffle into the other hand so the card faces are seen by people coming up to me from my left.
The presentation makes the magic.

Well done great work.
Get a note book and each time you go out write 2 things you want to achive. Then write what happened and what you want ti do next. But most of all do what your doing it works.
Enjoy your magic,
and let others enjoy it as well! |

Well done, you will find that the more you do it the more you will enjoy it, and with the experience gained you will also improve.
By failing to prepare, we are preparing to fail.

How were the hats?
If you need fear to enforce your beliefs, then your beliefs are worthless.

Thanks for the comments.
MagiCol: Yes. I just did Card to Pocket (ending in 51 to the pocket) tonight in a pub. It got the best reaction. I also redid other tricks, this time taking care of showing the cards slowly to the audience, letting things sink. YellowCustard: writing things down is a great way to stay motivated. I'll keep doing it! NYCTwister: we busked for free, the other two magicians making their promo videos at the same time. Silvercup: I need to do what get the best reactions when performed by me, so I'll keep changing a few tricks in each set. P! |

You will probably find that the more you do it, the less you will bring with you.
Develop a solid set. SOLID. Know it inside and out. Any chance of failure? What are your outs? Practice them. Get really good at some stuff. Don't look to be kinda good at a lot of stuff. Find a signature piece, something that no one else is doing, that you will become known for. My wife and I do a whip act. We are known for it. People come back and call out the lines as they are supposed to during the show. If they see us in the street, they call out the same lines as a way of letting us know that they are in that "in" group of people that know us.
