I've also noticed this. When small kids are singing using the N F words there=s something wrong.

It's the culture. It is soo crude. Stuff I used to see in R rated films is now on tv. It's also like robbing children of their childhood.

The fact is they are telling the truth. Every decade and yes every generation our morals erode just a little bit more. Today its happening even more quickly. This new generation is the "Look at me generation." When every child walks around at the age of 10 with a smart phone like a zombie and can search anything they want in the privacy of a bedroom with the door closed. We then wonder how did they grow up so fast? When I was kid some kid would have to find a dad with a Play Boy magazine to see the garbage kids can now hear or view in the comfort of their room. We have 8 years olds dressing like they are 18 and have mouths like drunken sailors. Then we say: "Wow, they get so big so quickly." |

I always wondered what a person would think if they traveled through time from the 1930's and came to the present and saw the moral of today. Then I saw this movie: "Time Changers" . Really made me think. Here is the trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OzdeLDeU9w0

Remember when Elvis created a stir shaking his hips on stage and they would video him from the waist up? Remember "And frankly Charlotte, I don't give a dam." ???? Man, what is it going to be 30 years from now? And the pants hanging below the a - - really is just a totally moronic look. Good luck getting a job looking like that. Nobody wants to see your freaking underwear.

I'm on the front line, fellas. My 18th year of being a high school English teacher. I'm in an affluent area, and I can't even begin to tell you what I see on a daily basis, regardless of color or tax bracket. The good news is, on Magic Fridays, all socially constructed personas drop (for about 5 minutes) to reveal giddy, excited teenagers. Then they suck again...

There has always been adult entertainment, crude language and boorish behavior. The difference between then and now is those things were generally kept from children. I have no problem with whatever adults choose to read, watch, say or do. I just wish there was more respect for children. I do not like to see crude or "potty" humor in children's television. I don't have a problem with The Simpsons, Family Guy or South Park. I do have a problem with toys and clothing from those shows being marketed for kids. I have a problem with adult humor as part of programming on something called "The Cartoon Network." I don't care when it airs, such a channel should be for kids programming only. A person whose car displays bumper stickers with the words f***, s*** or b**** just doesn't give a d*** about the people around him. The responsibility for this falls squarely on ourselves, by what we say and do and by what we fail to say or do.

Thanks Frankie for your work with teens.
Some teens are going on 8 , some going on 28. Sometimes it is in the same student. Repetitive words which shock some of us become Almost unnoticed by some youngsters.

"It has gotten to the point that kids don't even absorb what the lyrics mean anymore. What was shocking years ago, has become the norm"
That has been my experience, too. Kids today will grow up just fine. Everyone thought my generation had lost all morals when I was a kid/teen, and we grew up fine. |
