Is the material in 7 Deceptions really practical and contain all the information necessary to perform it, or is it a pipe dream for advanced NLP people?
The palm lines moving on their own in particular... do you guys actually do this and make it work consistently? playzure |

I remember Docc Hilford talking about something else once, in which he said...
'It WILL work because you believe it will work.' The exact same applies here. I use this a fair bit (the Twisted Palm). Sure I was a bit hesitant at first so I tried it as a warm up to my PK Taps effect. Sure enough it worked. Needless so say I never performed my PK Taps that night. I have also used RGM and For Andruzzi with great success. Provided you start with something strong and fully reliable, then people will believe you can just do this stuff and so the rest will work just as well. Best Wishes, Colin Mcleod

Without wanting to appear arrogant, the best answer for whether my material "really" works can be found here:
Click Here! It is a review of a lecture I did which focused on no prop mentalism which featured the palm line effect and my pulse stopping routine. I use this material....really, it is not for the new mentalist, but with some performance behind you mixed with your already strong material suggestion based routines really are (in my opinon) worthy of attention. Hey Luke, in 7 deceptions you mention for Andruzzi as one of your pet effects. Do you still use that special something for your pulse stop or do you use Docc Hilford's impromptu method... I've been practicing but can't quite get the impromptu part.

I use the method detailed in the book, however I recommend you have the special something with you in case, almost an out.
In lectures I use nothing but suggestion. Hope that helps. Luke. |

I was at the Asylum convention and saw Luke do the above effects. Excellent performance. I also spoke afterwards to the lady he performed the effects on, and she was well and truly amazed by it.

I've performed Luke's Palm effect from there several times and got some startling reactions. At one party the women lined up to have me look at their palm.

DVD should be out very soon...very soon, indeed.
Greg glad you’re using it. I love to hear of people getting great reactions from my material. It makes me smile. Kind Regards, Lue Jermay. |

Does the DVD go into as much detail on the same effects that are also on “7 Deceptions”, or is it meant as a supplement?

Regular palm reading will have the women lining up! It really amazes me the pulling power it has for females.
I once demonstrated a little palm reading in a stationery shop to the girl at the counter. I turned around and four girls were standing with their hands out. I had to do them all before I could get out of shop. That’s just regular palm reading. Happens all the time. Happens all the time. |

The funny thing is it's not even palm reading. I kept having to re-explain that with everyone in line, but they still wanted it done.

Oh, you guys need to do that? I have girls lining up without doing anything.
OK, OK. I was boasting. In reality, I just realized that I frightened girls away. Some feedback from the audience showed that some people are genuinely frightened by bending spoons and mind reading. No wonder I never get to date those beautiful girls in the audience, despite a good performance. I am struggling to tune my performance, so that it doesn't scare people. To stay in topic, I have performed for Andruzzi, after bending spoons and reading minds. Yes, it worked, and frightened some poor souls. (What's wrong with me? I am handsome.)

Andruzzi himself said that audiences like to be taken to the edge and then back again safely. Maybe Peng, you are taking them to the edge and have no way of taking them back again. It's all too easy to do, and the only way you can honestly know where that 'edge' is and how far to push it is developing experience with the material.
I've often found that, especially with the women, a high degree of confidence and comfort in your own abilities is essential as it conveys trust onto them. If necessary, be very sensitive to the needs of the audience and always be ready to offer an extra sincere reassurance if need be. At all times, be controlled and be seen to be in control. That is the best mindset I've learnt to use when performing Luke's material. |

I found that one of the better routines in the book is the one where you can tell which ESP symbol someone has drawn without ever seeing him draw it. I am yet to test this one live, but I feel it will have a good reaction. It is also one of the ones that I feel will have a good hit rate.

I actually thought it was a good one until I tried it. Maybe I was doing something wrong, but every time I tried it the spec twigged the methodology. Maybe I'm choosing people who are too smart.

I found the phobia routine from “7 Deceptions” to be highly workable. On the one hand, it’s a very simple trick. But on the other, it really teaches how to use suggestion to involve people and build a really strong atmosphere and emotive conclusion.

James, try telling them to draw the shape BIG to get a more vivid picture in their mind. Works for me.

Before I saw Luke perform at ESCAPE in London, I was also a little skeptical concerning the deception routines until I saw him with my own eyes. He indicated that 'building block' goes into better detail and would give the performer confidence in applying his principles in real-time.
Good luck. hmk |
