So...I want to understand better: You openly look at the number/drawing by the spectator for one second? DO they flash it to you? Do you quickly open and close your eyes?

So in that case, could you not use the same technique in a glimpse rather than openly looking? And then replicate the drawing, or the long number etc?
Surely this would be stronger?

It is not based on a specific language. I perform Romeo and juliet speaking Swedish, I can do it speaking English as well. It is not limited to that.

I was fortunate enough to receive a review copy of a draft of John's 'Rain Man Glimpse' and I can say that this is great. I don't know John, wasn't familiar with any of his work, and have no financial interest in the success or otherwise of his effect; but I hope it does well for him as it is breaking new ground.
For me the opening thread by Insight is spot on and covers a lot of the points that I would make. The hardest part of reviewing John's 'Rain Man Glimpse' is in not tipping the method in doing so. As an effect, I wasn't familiar with anything else that allows you to demonstrate a photographic memory in this way. So if you are someone that likes Magic Squares, the Knight's Tour and the Day For Any Date effects then this might be right up your street. The effect is truly impromptu. You will need a stack of business cards and a pen. All of which could be borrowed, and you don't need any 'alone time' before you then launched into this effect. Now as much as I like this effect there is something I feel I need to explain to potential purchasers to avoid disappointment, which I will try to do by way of an analogy. If you were to purchase a Metal Bending DVD, you shouldn't be disappointed when you find that you will not really learn a way to bend metal with your mind alone: you learn a method to create an effect. Just so here. John is not teaching you a memory technique to rival Harry Lorayne. What he is teaching you is a great method to achieve the 'Rain Man Glimpse' effect as described. I am also fortunate that part of the technique John teaches in the 'Rain Man Glimpse' solves a long standing issue I have had. John and I share a 'handedness' trait that many people will too, and I believe that John might be the first person to crack this particular conundrum. The technique taught is very user friendly, easy to follow, and is versatile so that it can be applied to many other routines. Lighting and pocket space won't be concerns with this. I intend to report back in due course when I have properly road tested this in a few different environments, but for now I'm quite impressed with this. Well done John.

As a mentalist you must always ask yourself what if! And throughout your life you should seek to ask and answer this question over and over again, only then will your wildest dreams become a reality!

I ordered a copy and received it very promptly. Thank you John.
I have yet to actually try the effect and will report back when I do. But from what I have read, I am greatly impressed. Not only is the working of the effect very clearly described with photographs showing what to do, but once the method is explained John details his routine together with a bonus idea. For $5 this is exceptional value and very generous on John's part. The working of the effect is fairly straightforward and very deceptive. And once the simple move is mastered, it can easily be used and adapted to other business card type effects. With the Rain Man Glimpse you not only get what is a very different type of routine - one showing your ability to memorise - but a tool which can be used in other ways. This has been my first purchase of the year and I am really delighted. I am very much looking forward to trying it out and for the value, the thought, the routining and potential different uses, I unreservedly recommend. Neil |

Thank you Neil for your kind words, it means a lot!
Oh, and the BONUS effect is something I do along with the Rain Man Glimpse, I call it "The Linked Cards", the effect is simply that the performer manages to memorize a completely shuffled deck in only two seconds. Effect: The mentalist memorize any kind of information in less than a second. $5 |

Hey guys. This is a great routine. And a worker for sure. You can tell that John took his time to work this routine out fully. The method had me smiling and can't wait to use this at my next gig. I'm sure it will be strong. You get a 16 page PDF and included are Johns thoughts on different variations on doing part of the routine. And you also get a bonus effect called Linked Cards. Though the bonus is a nice add on I will stick to the original Rain Main Glimpse. For a fiver you can't go wrong. I would have easily paid 15-20 for this. I believe most people will use this plus once you learn the move its simple.
The move is great and there is no heat whatsoever on you. Can't wait for more releases from John. Thanks John. Hats off to you on this one Alex Alejandro

Hi All,
I just finished reading the Rain Man Glimpse and concur with the sentiments of NeilS and BMWGuy. The instructions are very clear and the move, when mastered, will allow you to demonstrate the powers of eidetic imagery. You can follow it with "The Linked Cards" bonus routine should anyone want to see a second demonstration of your amazing memory ability! Great job, John Regards, Steve
