Well I don't know anyone who says what you claim they say. If they do, then they don't understand how a running handicap works.
If there is a single truth about Magic, it is that nothing on earth so efficiently evades it.

I'm talking about winning races, not handicapping them.

You brought up Timeform and Timeform is a running handicap. Timeform maintains a running handicap for all racing in Britain and Ireland (jumps as well as Flat), the USA and Canada, UAE, most of Australia and so on.

Well, you have to go back a little bit to where I asked you if many people thought those British Classics held a lot of weight in determining how great a horse is historically. I knew you would say yes, which was just lead in to me taking a shot at Frankel. Which I like to do just for fun. Mostly because making the case that Secretariat was the greater horse is so easy, and it makes fans of Frankel so mad.
I only brought up Timeform because a lot of people (including the Timeform people themselves), point to that rating as some sort of "proof" of his GOAT status. When it doesn't really mean anything at all in itself. A horse proves his greatness on the racetrack, not on some computer. Frankel did prove himself to be a great, great, horse on the track, but his teams decision not to run him at any real distance has to be taken into consideration in the grand scheme. There is just no way around it. He didn't even run 1-1/8 mile until he was a four year old. Don't get me wrong, I think it was a wise move. But in my opinion it was a move that leaves him out of the discussion for greatest ever. They can't have it both ways,. |

Never criticize someone else until you have walked a mile in their shoes. Then, when you do criticize them, you will be a mile away from them and you will have their shoes.

I believe there is another legit Triple Crown threat running in the Derby tommorow. If he can win the rodeo that is the Kentucky Derby I think there is a great chance he could win the Triple Crown. Trained by Bob Baffert and with Victor Espinoza aboard (same jock that had California Chrome last year) he's poised for greatness. Of course the best horse rarely wins the Derby.

You're probably right, though at 50-1, I'm grabbin' a piece of Ocho(x3)!

Not me. I don't like Ocho at all and the post position is death at the Derby in my opinion. A horse hasn't won from the rail in almost 30 years. My longshot money is on Mr Z. He will go off at close to 50-1 as well but I think has a legit chance to win.

A couple of months ago my girlfriend tells me her friend is getting married and that the reception is on May 2nd starting around 5PM. The conversation went something like this;
Me: What day of the week is that? Her: Saturday Me: That would be the first Saturday in May. Her: I guess. Me: Ah, that's Derby day. What are you, crazy? Out of the question. Her: You can skip the wedding I just want you to go to the reception. Me: Not a chance. The race goes off a little after 5pm. Where is this stupid reception anyway? Her: Down at Potawatomi Casino. Me: |

Or we could see a Triple Crown winner. I can't wait for Belmont. Going to be very exciting, this horse is so much better than California Chrome. It was easy to bet against California Chrome last year, It might not be so easy this year to bet against the favorite. |

And here we had a horse that was so much better than that, a horse that runs like a dream. And no one seemed to care. People of been scoffing at me for a month and a half saying no horse will ever win the Triple Crown again, that it's unfair to let new shooters run in the Preakness and Belmont. I've been telling them look at this horse, watch him glide across the track, this is a special special horse. What an awesome race and an awesome accomplishment. I've been waiting for this day since I was 10 years old and watched Affirmed do it. What an incredible day. What an incredible horse. |

California Chrome doesn't need no stinking blinkers and does it again here in Del Mar.
