Good evening ladies and gentlemen,
I've been reading and learning what I can for a while, now, and I wanted to say that I'm not going to bug you with any questions.

I'm just going to go out and do it until I'm good. Jimmy Talksalot and Cellini's work have been great inspirations with loads of wonderful advice. So have all of the forum posts.

But now it's time to go out there and suck until I don't suck anymore, and maybe one day be really good.

That's it.

Thanks a billion and wish me luck,
SacredChao

BANG ON!

Yes you will go and suck and your probably suck for a while. However something else will happen at the same time. Your achieve these things as well,
-Make someone smile and laugh,
-Be a nice surprise to someone who dint not plan to see magic or has ever seen live magic,
-People value what you do and pay,

Remeber once you do a routine be it just one trick to one person and they pay you that is busking. After that happens never say you cant do it. Sure you want to do better and grow your act, crowd and hat. But never say you cant do it because you have.

Good on you keep going and I do wish you all the best. Pleas can you give a short write up of how you went.
Enjoy your magic,

and let others enjoy it as well!

Let us know how it goes.
Keep it simple at first. People are still blown away by sponge balls. Remember that.

Well I did it!!!!!.
After spending a fantastic weekend with Mario and Veronica at the School of Busking I performed on the streets of Cardiff. This was the first time I have ever performed in front of the public.
Yes I was extremely nervous, but with Marios backing and support I hit the people of Cardiff with my magic, I had such a ball and was buzzing like a bee on acid when I had finished.
When I got home I then decided to hit the South Bank in London. I was positioned a few hundred yards from the wheel and all was going wonderfully, I was stopping a crowd, keeping them but wasn't getting great hats though I did expect that. I was really enjoying myself when all of a sudden a Jamaican limbo and dance troupe turned up with a sound system straight out of a Bon Jovi rock concert.People started running past me to get to the music and instantly these guys had a full circle show (I hate to say it but they were good). I tried to continue but it was pointless.
Learning Points.
1) Never set up next to a Jamaican dance troupe and if they set up next to you move.
2) Stop one child and you have a crowd.
3) Make sure you bring sandwiches with you.
4) Go out and do it again and again and again.

You are spot on well done.

Just one thing I would say is normally dance groups do a show then take a break. This gives you a opportunity to have a rest and do shows in between. When I worked in Sydney I met a dancer and he would do a 30 minte show then I would do 2 15 min shows. It worked well for us because we kept the ptch for most of the day and due to heat we could go off to a cool place in the break.
Enjoy your magic,

and let others enjoy it as well!

Good on you new fellows intending to do, then doing, street busking with magic! It's going to help your own development of magic, and your confidence will grow and grow. I hope the more you spend time with people who stop to see you, the more you will like entertaining them.
All the best in the future on the streets.
The presentation makes the magic.

Glad to hear you did it ... now keep doing it! Smile

As for the dance problem, be mobile. Be ready to move on a moments notice and have other spots lined up to move to. I quit lugging around a whole cart full of crap for that very reason, I can pack up in 1 minute flat and be on my way if need be. Smile
