I have looked for books and asked at my local magic store but no one seems to know much about displacement tricks.
Like the bowling ball in the empty paper bag. Does anyone know where I can get these types of illusions or books?
My youtube channel check it out its magic.

Sorry, don't know what you are talking about, and I have been doing magic for 50+ years. Never heard the term displacement tricks. Maybe you cold explain what you are trying to say better.
If you are saying, show an paper bag empty and then dump out a bowling ball, then no nothing like this have ever been published to my knowledge or performed as such. Most guys that do surprised tricks like balloon to Canon Ball, all make up their own methods. The is another guy producing a Bowling Ball from Paper Bag, but it is not for sale as he uses it in his act. So you cannot perform that anyway unless you come up with an original idea yourself. Ethics you know. There is a Bowling Ball from artist drawing pad, but cost over $700 for the trick and method. Just work on your own material and method, then don't tell anyone how you do it. |

Andrew Mayne has a good Bowling ball from Grocery Bag. It's on his Freefall DVD

Master Payne is correct (as usual) Andrew Mayne is the guy you're looking for. I would suggest purchasing his Penguin Live Lecture at Penguin Magic, he covers the bowling ball from large paper bag, as well as a brick production, and a lot of other magic. He also sells PDFs on his site, and that trick is in a few of them. Have fun!

Take a look at FreeFall by Andrew Mayne. This will allow you to produce a bowling ball, fishbowl, etc. from a brown grocery bag. I have used it often and it works really well if you follow his routines on the DVD

There's a lot of this type of production in print, it's just scattered around. I think there's a watermelon from cardboard box in Tarbell...there's a 2 liter of soda from paper bag and a rabbit from paper bag (both different methods) in Karrell Fox's books. Karrell Fox's rabbit production was the inspiration for this trick of mine: http://louiefoxx.com/bag.html but my method is very different from Karrell Foxx's method.
Like Bill Hegbli says in his post I had to come up with my own method. |

I remember years ago comng up with my own method for rabbit from hat, which I used in my library show, but rabbits were a lot of work behind the scenes. I finally sold them, as I did my doves.
I do remember the Andrew Mayne bowling ball effect, which I used for a while. Another one that was pretty good was "Double Dribble", which was two basketballs from a briefcase, which for me was a pain to load.
The difficult must become easy, the easy beautiful and the beautiful magical.

The bowling ball in the empty paper bag is a variation of the cannon ball in the empty hat (Hoffmann's "Modern Magic", P. 196). The bowling ball, while larger than a cannon ball, is lighter and has a built in finger hold so it is easier to perform. What you call "displacement" is what magicians generally call "appearance", or "production" or "transposition" when discussing the effect or impression the trick has on an audience. Only an audience of physicists would be likely to wonder how you made a bowling ball "displace" the air inside a paper bag.
