My first thoughts on these two. I'm not going to write anythng lengthy as it's pretty much past my bedtime.
The DVD is well shot, you get a live performance of each effect which is great. Live at McSorely's DVD consist of three main effects. Cigatration/Off by a Lot/Jacked Up You also get the gimmick for Cigatration. I'll go over what I thought of each effect. CIGATRATION: This is a great handling, the demo pretty much shows it all, I don't believe it goes in depth on how to do the spellbound change. I might have to look over it again but I'm one of those who doesn't haven't gone over how to do this sleight, so a bit disappointed there. Over great short and sweet effect to have on you when you have a smoker around. 7/10 JACKED UP: An effect where a card is selected/shown, 4 Jacks are shown and used to help figure out what your card is, one jack is shown to determine color and placed on the table, the next card shown determines the suit and is placed down, the third card show is their chosen card, the next card shown is the mate. and the two cards place down are the two other "mates" of the selection. A good segway effect. Pretty cool, honestly I choose Steve Dobson's "Ace to Jacks" over this effect, similar setup and more magicial moments. 7/10. OFF BY A LOT: Card is shown from a dribble. Card is shown and it's far off from the selection, spectators agree it's off by a lot, the back of the card says, "OFF BY A LOT". It is turned face up and changed to a different card, it's closer, but not the selection, specs agree, the back says "CLOSER". You offer to show what it looks like when the back changes instead of the face, "CLOSER" changes to "YOUR CARD", the face is show and it's the selection. Pretty cool opener I think, it's like one of those effects "Now Look Here" by Chad Long, multiple messages and magic moments. A worthwhile effect, won't set the world on fire but it looks like a worker, the setup kind of made me go for "Now Look Here" instead. 7/10 There are tips and Q&As between the effects and explanations, pretty cool as I get to learn about Chris Westfall. I believe there are better DVDs out there for worker material with more variety but if you like what you see from the descriptions it's worth taking a look. 7/10 from me. |
