Greetings: I have a friend who wants to get into gospel magic so he can work with the youth program at his church. I've been a magician for going on 50 years, but am unacquainted with gospel magic, standard effects, etc. Can anyone recommend a water to wine effect that he could pick up as a dealer item or that I could teach him? Thanks in advance.

Probably not, but thanks for replying. There's a way to do it with simple chemistry I've found.

That all depends Harris. Is someone more interested in duplicating Jesus's miracles for applause and amazement, or are they more interested in serving an awesome God? How many know what the significance was of Jesus turning water into wine? What meaning do most get from that? Can that same point be made in other ways?

I like gospel magic but think I would stop short with turning water into wine. Just me.

Just to add to the discussion.
What if you chose to. And You A. Talked about wedding B. Effects of drinking People wouldn't notice bad wine at the end due to already consumed wine C. Talk about you doing illusions and only God / Jesus/ Holy Comforter can do the Supernatural.

Mr. Ralph - Russo sent me a PM
He reminded me this happened after a request from Jesus' Mother. I told him I had to filter my brain from Jewish Mother jokes. In talking with my wife we were discussing whether Mary knew he was both fully man and fully God. Harris aka Zvi Arey Remembering my own Jewish mother.

I know a post can't accurately portray my tone or intention, but I say this without any judgement or condemnation. I have to agree with others on this post and would be hesitant to replicate any of Jesus' miracles. My concern would be giving credence to the common skeptic stance that Jesus merely used magic tricks to fool his followers.

I would never do this trick in front of disbelievers, but few if our Churches have many if those. For Outreach, I do a different programme.

I have done this story by changing the color the water to a dark red and back again to a clear liquid.
I have also told this story by using pictures instead of liquids. I used a large folder that worked like a z-fold wallet, but was made of card-stock (yes, I made it) |

Good colring or real wine that can be actually drank. I can think of two approaches if I can get that info.

It was good wine at the end of the wedding.
Usually the bad stuff was served. We all know who Jesus' bride is. Merry Christmas When people ask me if I'm ready for Christmas, sometimes I just say yes. Other times I say , yes since 84 when I accepted Jesus as my Savior.

I think maybe twisting it from coke to pepsi
or water to cola, something like that. making sure that people know that this is a trick and that Jesus. some christians are may be offended, and frankly, they are always out there. I think the thing is, it may put into question why you had wine at church and at a youth event. are the youth having a party? :) I think for the sake of the word of God, we should maybe not do things that could put into question the acts of Jesus. like water to wine, curing leprosy or making ears grow from freshly cut off ears. I think there is a fine line in showing people a way to God and making people question the Power of God. but in saying that, questioning the power of God isn't that bad if it makes us seek him more right?
