I had a great weekend in Baltimore and one night in New York.
Eric Dittelman and I saw a show the I can tell you was done by a person who read
Maximum entertainment many times.
Any thing that he did from the start of the show (and before) until the end of the show (and after)
was perfect.
The audience loved him.
everything was smoth.
everything was amazing.
He was in control of everything every second.
great exprience for the audience and fro Eric and I.

by the way, his name is Ken Weber.

I sugest each one of us read the book again and again.
ask friends to critic your show.
work on your showmanship and ways to controlyour audience.

It is my favorite book - and I refer to it often and can only hope to try to master Ken's many wonderful suggestions.

Anyone can buy a trick - any one can read a book - but there is I feel something innate, something called talent that cannot be taught.

I'm far from where I would like to be, but Ken's book really helps a lot to focus on what matters in a show.

Seeing Ken Weber himself must be amazing. Thanks for the reminder!

For anyone serious about their craft this is a must read. Take notes. Put the notes next to your script. Read a line of your script. Check your notes to see if that line meets the standards. Better yet, rewrite your script from scratch and filter each line through your notes.

Lior, I agree completely about asking someone to critic your show, and regularly if possible. This is CRUCIAL as we miss so much because of our close perspective. However, I would keep it to one or two people with all the qualities you're looking to breath into your own work. I can't overstate how helpful doing this is. It's like taking the fast lane to your destination. Recording yourself is helpful as well.

A polished act doesn't get to be so by accident. It's a life long concentrated effort.

I'd love to see video of Ken Weber performing if anyone has any links...

Thanks,

Bobby

If I would have to choose two books, it would be PME and Maximum Entertainment.

Performing Magic by Tony Middleton and Scripting Magic by Pete McCabe are two must-have books on a topic as well!

In all my years I've never seen Ken Perform. I'm sure it would be a great lesson in stagecraft. I wonder why he's never performed at Mindvention, as he's always there? Sounds like a great night.

As a first time attendee at Mindvention last year, it was an honor to meet Ken -- but it would have been a real thrill to have seen him perform. How much better does it get than to see his book come to life through his performance. That being said, Maximum Entertainment is one of he most educational and insightful books I have read yet. If you perform, in any way, it should be a must read.

Ken was doing the show for real people and not to magicians.
I have see many performers doing great shows in magic conventions and the they where very bad in front of real paying audience.

I have seen Ken also in fronts of booth groups and he is great.
But if you want to learn and improve then do it in front of real people. It is something complitly different.

Lior,

We have a magic father in common, with Roni, and he always tells me that you are the best corporate mentalist in the World and I trust his judgment!

That doesn't sound like a small business. I'm impressed more with the gifts of his writing and caring about other performers enough to distill a lifetime of learning into such a superb book.

That's darn impressive.

What people do in their other life isn't my business.

It's on my bucket list to at least meet the man. Seeing him perform would be other worldly! Congrats to you, Lior!!
