I am working on a birthday package that would make it super easy for the mom planning the party. I would try to provide everything (for a fee of course). So the concept is instead of mom buying the gift bags and entertaining and doing games and cake and invites, etc, I would take care of almost the entire thing. Im sure this is not a new concept, but in the day and age of computers, I was thinking evites would be more practical. Does anyone include this in their shows? Any e vite services to recommend? What do you think of the concept?

Kameron - glad to see you posting here, it seems like it has been a while. My opinion is that as a performer, you should be viewed as a highly talented person who poses a special gift. When you depart from this image to one who does a bunch of things for the party, you actually reduce your value as a unique talent. From a branding perspective, I think it is a move in the wrong direction. Your shows per day would also take a hit, with the increased work you would be creating.

However it would make sense if someone wanted to expand into "party planning", eventually reaching the point where they send out entertainers that they've vetted, providing the bells and whistles for a price. However in such a case EVites wouldn't add as much value. It would be something you'd add on for free in this day and age, since people can do it for themselves pretty easily.

It has been a while. I cant seem to log in on my computer, and my ipad is not the best for typing long posts... Anyways, in my market I NEVER can book more than 2 or 3 shows a day anyways. They either conflict and don't book or I squeeze them in, so I am not jumping from show to show on a saturday like some guys. Just not as many people where I am. I don't even get 5 shows asking for the same day and I have pretty much no competition. So I think this might be the way to get more money for the 2 or 3 shows I do on a weekend. Does that make sense?
And yeah I would include some of the things like evites in my normal package. Just like a nice free perk to get me on the mothers good side. |

Hi Kameron -
If I were a birthday parent, I'd have some concerns with an entertainer offering to send e-vites on my behalf. I'd be concerned that he'll have access to that personal info (your friends' names and email addresses). It has a different feel that something like Facebook accessing your address book (and some don't like that, either), or choosing to send an ecard on your own. On the other hand, I've heard of other entertainers providing a birthday party invitation template on their website (for birthday parents to download and use), or blank invitations mailed to the customer. - Donald
