It was a gag that goes both ways. Just a gag, no more.

The ceremony of innocence is drowned; The best lack all conviction, while the worst Are full of passionate intensity.--Yeats |

Take a closer look. They make it out to be so dangerous and bold but look at how weenie the runners in the US are. It's so watered down it isa parody of the actual idea. If a bull gets within 15 feet they head for the fence. So classically modern America. Get a picture of me looking like I'm doing something wild!

Go on then.
If there is a single truth about Magic, it is that nothing on earth so efficiently evades it.

Stepping on stage with a guitar and all original songs is a far greater rush and a riskier proposition. Running the bulls is karaoke in comparison. But if machismo and wizz wars are your thing, have at it. It all comes up bull.

My neighbor rang my doorbell at 2:30 a.m. this morning, can you believe that, 2:30 a.m.!? Lucky for him I was still up playing my drums. |

I hate when that happens.
Hard to know, though, whether more people have died by trying to imitate Hemingway's posturing over the running of the bulls, or by reading the imitations of his prose.

On Jul 9, 2014, Tom Cutts wrote: "A real bull story: I got gored in Pamplona" ... see link for his reporting on his goring: http://www.thestar.com/news/world/2014/0......ona.html Short excerpt: "I saw a racquetball-size hole in my mid-thigh. Blood ran down my leg and flooded my shoe. Michael Hemingway, Ernest Hemingway’s great-grandson, was taking photographs nearby and rushed to my side. He took my hand and asked the medics if the femoral artery had been pierced ... I grew up as a very angry, violent young man in a rough neighbourhood on Chicago’s Far North Side. My father was a gang leader in his youth and a street fighter. My eldest brother followed in his footsteps — becoming a gang member, getting addicted to heroin and then doing seven years in prison for armed robbery. I knew I had to get out of Chicago before I got killed or stuck in prison. At age 15, I discovered boxing, which helped me refocus my life and get into college. But change took time: At 19, I served three months for battery as a result of a street fight. When I read Hemingway’s The Sun Also Rises my freshman year in college, I decided to travel to Spain to run with the bulls. At the time, I was also dealing cocaine and suffering from undiagnosed bipolar disorder. I sought out violent situations on a regular basis, and that is partly what led me to Pamplona. The run started as an adventure and became a way to get sober and redirect my life. I immersed myself in the Spanish bull-running culture, and found grace and camaraderie within it." "I saw Miguel Angel Perez save Xabier Salillas’s life on July 11, 2005. A bull named Vaporoso had gored Salillas in the face, chest, stomach and leg. Perez grabbed the bull’s tail, halting the attack, and then led him up the street and out of sight. That is what the run is all about — risking your life to come to another’s aid."
