The ad says signed coin. True? I am confused by some of the reports. So I cant borrow a can borrow a signed coin and put it in the can, or "can" I? There are two effects shown on the trailer. One is a slap and one is holding the hand over it. Do all the claims stand for both versions?
I guess I am asking if all the claims are 100% true or true only be interpretation after you know the secret? Only one coin is used? If you have to add a Yes but only after, then the claims are misleading. ie. you can uses any coin or can after you do xyz in private. Key-points: Use a borrowed can. Use a borrowed coin. Sign the coin. The spectator’s coin is really in the can. Everything is examinable. It’s simple to learn. There are no gimmicks. Use any currency. No preparation is needed. It can be immediately repeated. It can be done surrounded. It can be done naked. |

Is only one coin used? Hmmmm, I wonder if answering that one gives too much away.
Yes you can use a borrowed can, but it has to be the right can. Yes you can borrow a coin, as long as it fits in the mouth of the can. Yes you can have the coin signed (just before the dirty work). You cannot show signed coin on back of can. Signed coin gets set up before effect takes place. You cannot show the coin on the bottom of can has a signature just before the magic. Yes, the spectator's coin is in the can. Everything is examinable. No, it's not simple to learn. Uses some sleight of hand and sensitive angles. There are no gimmicks. No, can't use any currency. The coin has to fit into the mouth of the coin. There is a prep move that is done in front of spectator. They can even do the prep for you unknowingly. It can be repeated immediately, but not recommended. No, it can' be performed surrounded. The one illusion is only accomplished from a certain angle. Yes, it can be done naked.

I got this yesterday and I was extremely disappointed. I think I'll stick with deceptus.

I had also a disappointed feeling when I saw what the real secret was - but having practised it a lot now I truely love it. The secret seemes too simple, forseeable and like "oh, one more of these effects with this method". But it is really cleverly used - I feel I end completely clean with this - though technically of course not. Go and have fun with this

Can't beat the practicality on this one. I'd still vote for Sinful as the can was completely sealed before and after the apparent penetration. Not sure about the opened can. WIll give a try and report back..

I don't have Deceptus, so cannot comment on that. However, as far as I know it cannot be examined (?), takes time to set up and uses a gimmick (not that any of those things are a bad point of course). For me, the impromptu nature of Breakthrough, like Sinful, makes it a winner for me. I don't have to do anything other than perform, so that's why it gets my vote.
Also, like Sinful, it looks completely impossible (I still prefer Sinful overall as that is simply a ridiculously impossible effect and so much fun to do). I really fail to see what's not to like. But then, millions of people love foottball, and I think they're all idiots...so what the hell do I know. |

I like it. If done right the can,can be examined with Deceptus before and after and it really does look impossible when you chuck there lighter in a can and cut it open to take it out, if my mates false teeth can go in,then that really will shut him up,lol,i will have to try it. Just one negative, you need to have some background noise ,that's it. |

I also worked this out. I cannot believe it is so highly priced. For a download, this should be $5.
And I agree with Alan, Deceptus is much, much better.

I find that rather amazing considering you haven't bought it, therefore only 'think' you know what's going on. And even if you have worked it out, you have no idea how much time and effort went into coming up with it, refining it, covering pretty much every situation one could find themselves in and then making a DVD about the whole lot. Therefore the bit about how much you think it should cost is also a bit crazy. (however, I'm of the mind that magic should be more expensive anyway...save everyone and their mothers buying it just to see what's going on, but whatever)
I'm not saying you should like it, that is obviously personal preference, I just think that people should be a bit fairer when assuming something. For an example: I could assume that Deceptus takes a long time to set up, I have to bring the can with me, I have to be very careful of my audience management, I can't hand it out for examination (if I don't do it correctly based on what Fire Starter has said) but even then I can't leave it with them unless I cut it open etc...therefore I could assume that Breakthrough is much, much better and worth the extra money for an examinable leave behind effect that is impromptu with borrowed objects. I also might be wrong about Football...but I seriously doubt it. Peace. |

I think I prefer Sinful since the can is sealed (making it seem more impossible), you won't get soda/beer on your hands, no clothing restrictions, you get a full performance in the trailer which doesn't hide the setup so you know exactly what you are getting and the ad copy doesn't mislead by saying it can be done surrounded, which the as copy for Breakthrough does.

That's what I love about this forum. It's kind of like this murder they're trying to solve on the Investigation Discovery Channel I'm watching right now....it starts off and you have only "this" information. You keep digging into it with questions and the gathering of information and you start to learn more and are able to piece together certain things. I do have Deceptus and I really like it a lot and I don't have breakthrough (maybe- yet), it's money that you are (possibly) going to spend, (and a decent amount too for breakthrough), and you really want to know exactly what you are paying for. Thank god for the Café and it's helpful members. And in no way does this mean that I am NOT going to purchase breakthrough, it's just cool how information surfaces after digging into things. Effect really seems impossible from the way it looks.

No, you are right that you do not get a trailer performance from the moment they walk up to a spec to the moment they leave, but it is uneccesary. The "set-up' such as it is, is done right in front of the spectator. In fact they can do it themselves, which is quite funny if you think about it. 4) The ad copy is not misleading. You can do it surrounded. This is explained multiple times (using multiple camera angles) on the DVD. Again, I do not own Deceptus, am not trying to bash it (I actually think it looks very cool), just trying to fix misleading info. |

The "doing it surrounded" is very questionable. Raising the can high above your head will not hide the exposure, especially if those around you are tall people. The idea's he gives to being surrounded seems rather weak, and does not guarantee someone will not see the exposure. I've tried it out from many angles, even using the topit idea, but anyone to my sides or behind me will see. If I raise the can too high, someone behind me might think I'm passing it to him. (lol) The other idea's in my opinion just creates suspicion that the coin is still where they last saw it. They are not very strong idea's on how to cover your angles. The best way is to have them in front of you. Of all the performances of the download, I don't recall him performing entirely surrounded.
