Dan Huffman's name rang a bell & sure enough I found his routine titled, "Dreams" in the New Invocation.
I remember his name & his dream routine which involves 3 spectator's dreams written on a pad. It's probably Gidrah in it's original state. |

Nope, its an improvement, done by Redford...that's why Dan is also there to talk through the entire thing, together...
you reveal three dreams that the participants state, each one can be as accurate as you want it to be...mentalism after all...nothing to f****... c'mon now - enough has been said about it now I reckon...lets not play "method by a process of elimination"... no I.T, no magnets, no monkeys, its ten dollars...

And you can buy a whole book of mentalism that you could create this effect from. Or you could by an Osterlind DVD with a number of effects. Just because it is $10 doesn't mean it is worth it - for one effect!!!
From the trailer, I'd say you would be better off taking my advice. 13 steps and Annemann are what you need!
There is no holy grail!

This is how things work. Fortunately Annemann and Corinda weren't using your logic and whacking off over the Discoverie of Witchcraft so that they were able to put their words down on paper. And fortunately there are others who don't follow your "there's nothing new under the sun" advice. |

I've given this one watch through and I've gained a lot of food for thought. Certainly more than $10-worth of thought-food.
There are lots of clever aspects to Gidrah - but I was especially taken by the way it enables the performer to verbally reveal significant amounts of information about each dream as they write the prediction - BEFORE the participant says what they dreamed. This makes it streets ahead of many routines of this kind IMHO.

I must live a 'charmed' life. Today on Penguin thus costs $19.95.

I bought this for 10.00. There are some nice principles/ideas here. In my opinion 20.00 is too much.
To me, the effect as presented isn't as good as the ideas. (feels long and drawn out) Parts of the handling are illogical/unnatural. I'm always interested in seeing what others come up with so I will always look at new stuff. In this case however, as someone said earlier and got hammered, dig out some of the ideas from one of the classics and build your own effect. |

I'm pleased I got it, it kickstarted an idea that I am very happy with...now to try it out properly, next week...
came up with a strange gimmick which speeds the handling up...

1KJ Inner circle Warning: We will run out of new tricks in 4388 Posts |
I too purchased this at the discount $10 price on Penguin. When I first starting watching this, I thought I would be disappointed. However, it is a well thought out routine with some good work on a classic method. What they did with this was really good in stimulating me to think about this classic method and it's SERIOUS flaws. IMO, they have really solved these flaws in a very good way. Also, the routine theme is probably one of the best applications of their modified method that I can think of.
Given that I definitely plan to use this, I am not disappointed. KJ |

I am about half way through the video and am glad I bought it. I wouldn't call it ground breaking but certainly usable. The trailer shows enough info for someone to know if it is an area that they are interested in. If you want to divine info from a group of three people and do not already have a method for it this is worth the purchase.

I haven't seen this, but really like Bruce Bernstein's take on this and would like to hear from anyone that has both, as to how the two compare.

I took the $10.00 plunge when it was a "Hot Box" special and watched a good junk of it last night. This is a take on Mental Epic but with each reveal seemingly having the same strength. For example, no card forces for the final revelation. Each "dream sequence" plays equally strong. There are some wonderful ploys introduced that are welcome advancements for this type of routine.
My only issue with Gidrah is that this is one of those- "right time, right place" routines. For example, I cannot envision this working effectively with three guys. You're asking your spectators to be candid about something that is private to most people(dreams). The ideal setting would be sitting at a table with three women, and without time constraints. The routine develops rather slowly, and for this reason I don't feel this would play well in a stage or parlor show. However, this is not a knock on the effect. In the right setting, this could slay a group. Mental Epic aficionados will delight in the advancements. I'm definitely going to give this a try when the right setting presents itself. |

I meant "watched a good chunk" of it. "Junk" would definitely not be applicable in this case. LOL

The information was well worth the $10 price tag. However I would trade the creepy basement setting and Dalton Wayne intro for better lighting to clearly see the writing on the pad during the explanation.
