Hi I'm new to this area of magic. I perform close up and a street show. But I am also a choreographer and in my new production I am looking to levitate a body. I would also like to explore the use of a vanish of a person too.
Are there books/plans/DVD's that would fit my research needs?? Any help would be very welcome. I do have touching the sky by Andrew Mayne which has a few interesting low budget levitation ideas. Some more workable than other. This is a stage production so control over lighting and back drop is an option. Many thanks in andvance

Why not combine the levitation with the vanish (Asrah levitation)? IN the right hands it can be truly beautiful, and it lends otself well to a choreographed routine. PM me if you'd like for more detailed discussion.

Thanks for your reply. I have PMed you. The Asrah levitation is certainly an illusion I would like to look into further!

Maybe you like one of these levitations, "The Ghost" actually is a levitation and a vanish:

Many thanks Daniel. They do look like great illusions. I'm after plans really as we will be constructing our own set and props and will customise designers for our particular needs. I looking into Osborn plans as kindly suggested by Frank.
Any other ideas very welcome Thanks Jasper

I love the Magellan Levitation! Best of all it can be done solo.

I was going to be a great levitator once.
with a I thought fool proof method. found a witch that swore she could leviate anything in a flash. turned out she was bragging about her powers. couldn't even lift my rat during the interview. rat sat there, and looked at her. then fell asleep. but I can make my rat appear on cue out of my coat. but only if she is hungry. *** method acting rat. |

You may consider a chair suspension its not a true levitation it really a supination however audiences love it and you could perform it street performing as well.

Rodney is correct. The chair suspension illusion is just that. It is a suspension not a levitation. In a suspension the person is supended out in an impossible way but supported by one point of their body. In a broom suspension that is the arm pit. In the chair suspension that is the neck. The chairs (if performed properly, can be done surrounded and can be done on the streets if need be. I have done both many times. You just have to know the illusion and perform it properly. If done that way, you will get great reactions every time.

Jasper...There is a version of ASRAH that "works" like ZOMBI. (I think the "old fashioned" way is better, but thought I would toss this into the mix. I only saw the Zombi version once, on a phone promotion show, but it did play well.

Hi Guys, hoping I can get some solid help. I had Mark Parker design a levitation for me however he couldn't help much with exact info on the best motor. very similar to Copperfields water 360 levi. it was suggested to use a automatic gate opener motor. but the units are quite large, we have one installed but we have had to gear it down which has dramatically reduced the speed of the rise and fall of the girl. can anyone suggest the best motor, motor name, size, strength etc? would be amazing to get some help. seen as we have experimented with 2 motors now, and is a very expensive process having to éxperiment on a project which I just need done.
Thanks! |
