A friend sent me the link for a trailer for this movie this morning. It looks like it's based very loosely on Chung Ling Soo. He was a caucasian that passed hinself off as Chinese 24/7. He kept this character so well that almost no one knew he was not asian until his death after a bullet catch performance went wrong in 1918. This guy was very dedicated to his character. He even used an interprter when speaking to reporters. ;-)

It looks like it could be a good movie. Romantic comedies are not really my thing but I'm sure this will be decent.

I found it particularly uninspiring. Wait until it hits cable...

I am not a big fan of Woodie Allen movies but this one looks good to me. The magic theme makes it interesting as well as the lead actors.

Zlwin, the film's title: Magic in the Moonlight. Agree with others, also not one of my favorites. A few other great Woody films to add to the cheesewrestler list: Bullets Over Broadway, Match Point, Blue Jasmine, Purple Rose of Cairo, Midnight in Paris, Sweet & Lowdown..

Yeah, it was good, not great, and not as good as a lot of his other movies. But, still, it was interesting and had a magician in it, so you guys might like it. It was about a magician who is into debunking psychics, but develops a crush on one.

Seems to be an almost universal thumbs down. No surprise really. Since he quit stand-up in the sixties it has been all downhill from Mr Allen.

Basing a movie on magic is one of the very few ways Woody Allen could get me to see one of his movies, but I'm still not holding out a lot of hope. It's still Woody Allen.
