What remotes are people using to control there music?
I have show cues but the remote was for the ipone 4 and now I have 5s. I am thinking about getting a new iPod just to use for magic music but what to get and what remote? Thanks all Joe Cappon |

I use the ijet remote. I use it with an adaptor that converts the connection from an iPhone 4 to 5.

Tony is right ... the iJet is great for iPods. I personally use a self-contained Ultimate Control mp3 player.

I had the Ultimate Control and it completely packed it in, right in the middle of a show, very frustrating. So I have gone back to using an ipod with an Ijet. I haven't downloaded show cues yet though. At the moment I can do everything with the Ijet except fade, I'm very tempted by Show Cues but it still seems a bit pricey.

I have a UCC and have been very happy. I even used it to flawlessly control all of my daughter's wedding ceremony music.

One Track and iJet. We have been using it since One Track came out. There are some benefits to Go Button over One Track, that we really like, such as playing multiple tracks at once, triggering sound effects, etc. But that is beyond what most performers will need.

Isn't the sound effects only on an ipad and have to be triggered from the pad not the remote?

Does anyone use One Track with an iPad? If you do, how large is the readout of the song playing and next song when the iPad is in landscape mode? Can it be seen easily from a distance?

Although I use the ipad in portrait. it is just as visible in landscape. You can clearly see if the track is playing, the current track with time remaining and the next track.I have no problem being about ten feet away and seeing the ipad. Depending on your age/eyesight, I'm sure it would be visible at a greater distance! Hope this helps.... Click here to view attached image. |

Eldon, Yes but also depends on your eyesight and the distance of the iPad. If you are really far away you are able to set a number instead of seeing the song title.
I mentioned to Shawn the programmer of the app to include a function where you're able to set a larger font. Maybe he will incorporate the feature in a future release. The app is also only $15 or 3 cups of coffee from Starbucks. If for some reason you're not happy with the app I will personally refund you the $15 via PayPal.

Eldon,
If you're interested in a solution that offers a longer reaching remote, you should check out Cue command. the display can be seen at a substantial distance in either portrait or landscape mode. Check out the video: http://www.deceptivelysimple.com/webpages/video_tour.html For even greater visibility, we offer the ability to display the track number only. In track number mode and portrait orientation, the number fills the entire screen. With an iPad, this is visible from the back of most theatres. Best always, Team Deceptively Simple www.DeceptivelySimple.com Now with Cross-Fade! |

I like Pasquale's set up. Nice and compact. That wouldn't be possible with Cue Command. Too much extra hardware and wires. I would suggest looking at One Track first. Certainly affordable at 15$. If it doesn't satisfy your needs move on to another. Show Cues was a good deal at 69$. Now it's up to 89$ which is certainly pricey for an app, but still great value for what is does for you.
John p.s. I noticed TDS signature now carries "Now with Cross Fade!". I'm not sure that this is a make or break feature for magicians. Seems to me something that a DJ would be more inclined to have/need. |

The amp(with 2 wireless microphones built-in) has a built-in battery as, of course does the ipad so no unsightly cords to run, tape down and still worry about someone tripping over. I do think that cue command is probably a very good product but would really like to see it battery operated to eliminate the power cord....I'm sure they're probably already working on it.. |

Pasqual,
Cool pic. How much does the PAS 8000 weigh and is the wireless vhf? Typically wood enclosures will have better sound reproduction. At 100 watts this thing has enough juice for your typical library show. Also a electrician should be able to tap into the battery lines and install a USB port so you can charge the ipad.

Yes, I agree the wood case gives a nicer tone - the mics are VHF - there are 2 mics, each on a different channel - I've never run into an interference issue. My setup does everything I need it to do! Nice idea about wiring in a USB port, but I'm not too concerned as my ipad holds a long enough charge. I really prefer everything being battery powered. I got the One Track app per your recommendation on this forum and it works great-thanks for that!- I was just remarking that perhaps cue command should make their unit battery powered - I doubt it would be difficult to do and would make it more versitile IMHO.
