Guys ...help me out if you can...
last weekend I competed in a state close up contest and had a little problem midway.... I wanted to get 4 silver dollars in my left hand without going to my pocket... well er ah um... I tried using a spring type purse to hold the coins grabbed three and one stayed...worse than that squeezing the hell out of the purse the coin dropped to the floor... well I salvaged the effect but I see this is a recurring problem... I need a four coin dropper and at this point will spare no expense.... the purse I used is probably a bit large for this type of thing (better for a jumbo coin)... and I have the bucket type holder that holds 8 or ten that I guess I can adapt (tried a removable black sponge ball but that might not be so permanent...).. any suggestions of how I can load 4 coins to a finger palm with not too much anxiety? thanks in advance. A Coin dropper can be made from a wire hanger using pliers and snips. No biggie. Time to look in 'Art of Magic' and books from around then for the details and pictures.
Rubber-bands tend to work well too when safety-pinned into the jacket. Also no harm in loading up a card case or even a servante at the back of your closeup pad.
...to all the coins I've dropped here

John Cornelius pointed out that baby bottle nipples will hold 4 half dolloars and can be used for vanishes by attaching them to a pull. If you changed that to a pendulum type pull then you could steal from it as well as use it for a vanish. I'm not sure what brand of nipples he used but if you look around in that section of the drug store you will probably see one that looks like it will fit.
Dave BTW - the books of wonder have some good work on the pendulum pull. Of course, I'm assuming you're wearing a jacket or vest. |

Why not just use the standard 4 coin clip? I am sure they are readily available. David Neighbors uses them all the time.

Guys ...thanks for all this..
Jt - the rubber band idea is intriguing...as is the nipple idea .. I think I will work with both... the standard clip scared me because I am a volatile, fast moving kinda guy and felt the clip would slip but you know maybe a rubber band secured will put enough tension on the clip so I can run the 100yard dash... this all an example of being too close to the problem.. thanks so much for the help... I was expecting a solution or two of major expense Marty Shapiro hopefully.. dropless now! |
