Hi
I am interested in learning about a math trick that involves four square sticks each with numbers on each of the four sides. The effect is that the performer instantly adds a set of numbers before the spectator can. I am looking for the name of a book or other reference that would describe this trick for me.
thanks

The trick is usually sold as "Mental Logs" and is based on "Lightning Addition" as described in Karl Fulves' book Self-Working Mental Magic.

IIt was featured on an episode of Scam School not too long ago:

Vol. 2 of Docc Hilford's Book of Numbers also has some nice touches on the Mental Logs.

Thanks Scott
This was the video that piqued my interest in this trick. They explain the method and provide the numbers to make a DIY set of three sticks. But I would like a complete set of four sticks. I have been trying to figure out the numbers needed for the fourth stick.

MGordonB, I PM'd you.

BTW, I believe the originator of this effect is Royal V. Heath. I'm not sure, but it may even be in his Mathemagic book.

This is also another source for you, Magic Math Sticks (Wooden) by Diamond Jim Tyler, which are available at most on line magic stores.

Hey guys,

Do you know of any sets with 5 digits on the face, not 4.

Thanks in advance.
