A lot of mentalism effect can be made bizarre if we change the props
Using photo instead of card for ootw Using runes instead of sun and moon coin or frekey Using spirit bell instead of coin on bicycle/ pen Etc Is it all depend on situation? Will you do bizarre magick in a walk around situation or bar situation? Or is it only deserve a theater performance? Take the sanctum2 form outlaw as an example, it is designed as close up mentalism, but it is more about the experience than the hits, While there is a similar effect at banachek PS3 by colin McLeod that the drawing duplication make a more solid hit, I would like to hear your thought about these topics. I find myself stuck once again just like the transformation from magic to mentalism |

You miss the point somewhere. It's not by turning a card trick into a tarot trick that you transform mundane magic into bizarre.
It's far more complex... |

Agreed Frer Curator and Guardian of the Past -
Story MUST compliment action unlike the "look at me" magician's visual "fooled you" magic. Story is no longer just explanation or justification of the actions of a "trick," BUT STORY illustrates the props and trick as they align with beliefs that are deep seated in emotion and projection of human beliefs vi-a-vis ancient and near ancient magic. It must touch the spectator's emotions and psyche to be bizarre -- always leaving the question as to whether I, my relatives or ancestors believed this -- and I have seen it. Runes for sun-moon? Only if it changes the viewer's destiny or hopes. Photos vs. cards -- look closely at it's ties with living and dead photo separations. It is the story and attachment of meaning at an emotional level that makes it more than a trick -- that makes it bizarre.

I believe he was just making a statement "you could" turn a classic mentalist effect into a spooky effect.
He did ask, is bizarre magick suited to a walk around venue or is it better in a theater setting. Why not "try" to transform classic effects and give them a spooky spin? Appropriate story/prop is always part of presentation. I would say Spooky magic can be done in walk around but that depends on the venue/prop/routine/story/timing requirements. Walk around works well for shorter performance pieces as you are "dropping-in/interrupting" just don't over stay your welcome. Spooky is better for audiences that have "signed up" for a show and are into that kind of thing, longer stories, death, demons etc. Always have to consider who is your audience and venue. Walk around Spooky can be more risky for acceptance. The answer is it depends you would need to be more specific?
