I have printed out the photos on photographic paper and aged the back's they look fantastic with Emily and Charlie written on the back with a date on,the Mrs is going to write the letters's out which I have changed the stories slightly, even my prefrerance of doing this still make this whole package well worth the money, just my opinion though, all the best.

I've rewritten the letters; like Joe, it isn't just the fact that they have been printed using a font, but stylistically and content wise I wanted to change them. While there were no glaring anachronisms, the prose style didn't seem quite appropriate to Edwardian England.
I actually enjoyed doing this, as to perform something like this well, you have to believe in it yourself. The plot is great, so tweaking the letter was just a fun literary excercise. Many will not deem it necessary, which probably it isn't. The photos, hmm. I'll be printing them from the PDF and ageing them myself; again, I'll enjoy doing this. Full marks, too, for the wallet. |

I feel this effect does not require such over detailing- all this rewriting for authenticity starts you down the never ending pursuit of a credibility rabbit hole. I just simply say how odd the spirit carries through these absolutely wonderful reproductions. If I really had such a "Real" letter and photo from 1912 - I certainly would not casually keep it in my "everyday " wallet just waiting to show people randomly, coins are different (Morgans) - or perhaps my approach is flawed. I'm incorporating an 1800 aged bicycle deck. Now if someone is writing the letters with a fountain pen, then that would be a legit improvement. I'm also thinking frixion pen. Anyway, the package arrived last week and I just love it! I am not of Anglo heritage - so I guess I have more latitude or restriction in performing it? I keep the loaded Heirloom wallet in a cigar box which is a vintage NWH Ten Ten Kings, late 1930's - verified. Sure, this and like any piece of magic is not for everyone.

My only problem with Heirloom has always been to find someone with the TIME to listen to the entire story, which, I admit is an excellent and enchanting tale.

Maybe abridge the story - frame the effect around something relevant. Heirloom can always risk feeling disjointed/out of context when just performed out of the blue and on itself. That's how I feel about it. Sometimes magic effects can be like recipes in that you may need to adjust it or substitute things from time to time. I don't what the hell I'm talking about - I hope you do. : )

No. I get your drift. No problem. I have always considered abridging thx story, but all the elements of it as is are integral to the story and to the impact. I never could figure out what parts of the story to skip out without diluting the impact of it. leaving parts out dilutes it, but at the same time, in order to get the full impact of it, you need a person who is willing to sit down, UNINTERRUPTED and just listen and give you their undivided attention for a few minutes while you weave your tale of enchantment.
Table hopping is definitely out....Â

I do not want to change direction of this discussion... And I see your valid point. But whether a routine is good for table hopping or not doesn't say anything about the quality of a routine, nor does the statement "no reset, immediately repeatable". Too many routines made for table hopping are simply crap, made for lausy conditions which are accepted by far too any magicians. What does art do in this environment? I do not want to repeat what Derren Brown wrote about table hopping, reread it, think about it. He is so right. There is a high request for table hopping, as magicians get abused to fill gaps. Many do accept it, even increase therefore this request as it is there only chance to perform once in a while. Who wants to perform only for himself in front of mirror? And friends, family and other magis are through, or already deeply annoyed. Jan

I'd like to read those Derren Brown thoughts on table hopping. Where can I find in their entirety?

You find it in his "Absolute Magic", and I know that many over read it consciously as they do not want to know it, it questions too much what many are doing just because it is convenient and better than nothing...it boils down to table hopping is prost..tion - and I agree. Jan

Heck I just saw Vlog ... he performed Heirloom so well ! I am moved immediately . Now I can see myself performing it very well . They should have put the main performance as their trailer .
I do believe that acting is very important in this particular situation . I will save up and get one . As for the hand writing issue , I will try to find a way to do it . Mabye at last I can pay a nice writer to write it for me ... lol ... I guess will definitely get this one sooner or later . Hope I will like it .

Actually I am pretty much fully captured and didn't feel bored listening to him talk throughout the effect . I am sure if I were to talk like a tone Peter did , I will be able to capture the attention of audience . However. I will be thinking of changing the script a bit , the starting is imply too long for the audience .
