Woody Allen's new film seems to deal a lot with Spiritualism.

I have not seen it, but I have been surprised by the several reviews I have read that have given it (say) one star out of five.

The reviews seem to all be very negative to say the least .
By failing to prepare, we are preparing to fail.

From the trailer, I got the impression that it's more of a love story than anything else. But I'll give it a shot anyway.

Good or bad it's probably the perfect date night for a spooky poster.
If you're like me.. This film is the only way I'm ever going to get
my wife to see a movie featuring a medium and a seance. Smile

Woody is a polarizing figure these days. Unfortunately the NY post review
seemed to hate it straight from the concept. Young woman falls for older man....
A "Cringe Worthy Topic" it says.

For that long, may I too remain,

I enjoyed it. Not one of Allen's best (Manhattan, Annie Hall, Radio Days) but enjoyable.

So, as a Woody Allen fan and a magic enthusiast, I was a bit disappointed. The main character is a cross between Houdini and Chung Lee Soo . He is like Houdini and has a true desire to believe in spiritualism, but who spends most of his time debunking all of them, exposing their secrets. The trouble is that at no time does the woman (younger, of course) ever seem convincing enough to fool someone who knows as much as he does about fake spiritualists.
