Pay it Forward – By Kyle Peron
magic4u02@aol.com http://www.facebook.com/perondesign http://www.kpmagicproducts.com This passing week hit me and others hard. With the passing of Robin Williams, it made me really stop and think a lot. Maybe part of it was because he was an entertainer and I could relate to that in many ways. His goal was our goal. His desire to entertain was much like our own. I think we could see a little of ourselves in what he strived to do. Robin stated years ago, "I left school and could't find acting work, so I started going to clubs where you could do stand-up. I've always improvised, and stand-up was this great release. All of a sudden, it was me and the audience." How wonderful that is. He understood that it is ALL about the audience. The audience is everything and he played so well to them. What strikes me the most is the ability to touch the audience. No matter what he did he made you laugh, smile, feel good, feel sad and feel emotion. He let you escape from the world for a little while and your troubles faded away. Isn't this what we as magicians should strive for? We can ultimately effect the audiences we perform for. We have the ability to change the way they see things. We can change the way they feel things. We also have the power to make them forget their troubles. THAT is real magic. He stated, "That (working on stage) was the only thing that interested me, along with learning the craft and working, and just being in productions with people." Being on a stage is an amazing feeling and learning the craft and art we call magic should be an ongoing process and one we encourage in ourselves and in others we know. We should never stop learning the craft we love so much. Put yourself always in the shoes of the audience and make sure you are performing for them and for the right reasons. Robin also stated, "no matter what people tell you, words and ideas can change the world." For us as magicians, WE can change the world for a person who sees and watches what we do. Our words and our actions can make a difference in a very positive way. Never forget that moment when magic touched you. That moment in time when the wonder of it all made you smile…..then use that and pay it forward. One thing also to note is to learn to be comfortable in your own skin/emotions far from the
