I have used Trump Call with success and think there are some other great ideas in the book. Have others used routines from this manuscript and does Lewis Jones appear anywhere else in print?

It’s mostly card based, nice routines, but the last two chapters are focus in mentalism: very smart revisited versions of center tear, magic squares, forcing matrix, phone telepathy... It’s beautifull stuff.

'Hasterix' and 'Bell, Book and Wangle' hold less appeal for me. I haven't worked with any of the duo routines yet. But I'd better, since 9 out of the 14 effects in the book are designed for two performers. |

Thanks Marshall. I've sent an order request for person to person so waiting for a reply. I have to say I have never read any of Lewis Jones work. Which one of his current books would anyone recommend for a first time reader of his writings? My interests within the art are cards and mentalism mainly.
Thanks |

I'd always recommend Seventh Heaven to start with, simply because it covers so much ground, and card and mentalism are definitely covered well in it. |

I agree with Muse ,
Seventh Heaven would be my first choice. I am fortunate to own all the books written by Lewis , some of them he sent to me as gifts for exchanging effects and ideas . In second place I would put Ahead of the Pack , then Magic Gourmet . If you ever want to be able to name the day a person was born on or the day for any date in the current year without being a professor of maths , then pick up the Magic Gourmet, for me that was worth the price of the book . The telephone effects in Person to Person are excellent and Lewis aimed to create effects that the spectator could not easily back track to work out the method . It always suprises me how few people have his books or have heard of them. I guess that is because Lewis loves to create effects rather than pushing the marketing of his books. Lewis has created one of the best diary effects with a pack of cards and could have easily sold the effect with a diary for $20plus and as a single effect ebook for $10. That is the feedback I have had from a few magicians I have sent the effect to and asked how much they would have paid for it. However, the actual effect was offered by Lewis and I beleive included in a large book of semi- automatic tricks , hidden amongst countless other self working effects that are not of the same calibre IMHO . 'Make My Day' is superb.....I have just ordered a 2011 pocket diary from ebay! Does it really work 100% of the time?? Have you marketed it yet?...This is way better that 'Fortuneteller's Book Of Days' or the multitude of 'Diary' effects I have owned I just love the diary effect so much so that I am going to rush out and buy myself a diary! Going straight into the repertoire ( Comment from the creator of "Up the Ante" Andy |
