In The Artful Mentalism of Bob Cassidy, he presented his version of Princess. The method given is definitely way better than any other Princess that I've seen, but I'm not convinced about it being a strong effect. Won't people notice that the cards being shown are actually different, especially when they're asked to concentrate? I'm only saying this because when I was first shown the trick, I noticed the difference in the cards rather quickly.
Has anyone got called out when performing Princess before? |

It's very strong when done properly. I've never been called out on it.

Bob: How long do you show spectators the cards for both the first and second time? Also, do you think it is feasible to perform it to a larger group (like, around 5-8 people)? I've actually written off the trick as a weak effect until I read your version of it. It's very well thought out, and the touches you added to it makes me want to give it a shot. Thanks for the quick reply, and the other amazing insights shared in your books, btw!

I just give them a pretty quick look at the cards. The first time I tell them to immediately focus on a card as soon as I show them. That really keeps their attention off the others for the most part. DON'T say, "Now carefully look the cards over and then fix your mind on one." Instead, simply say, when I show you these cards, focus on the first on that attracts your attention," or words to that effect.
I've only used this for one on one presentations and for small groups such as you'd find at a private house party. |

Bob: I don't remember seeing the Princess Cards in Artful Mentalism. (1st addition 2004) Could you tell me what you called it, or the page number… or just concentrate on it real hard?
Thanks for all your insight and generous contributions. |

Actually, I just realized that it is NOT in that book. It appears in my eBook Fundamentals, which is also included in "The Artful Mentalism of Bob Cassidy, Volume 2: Fundamentals.
It is in the section titled "Handling." Sorry for the error, but sometimes I forget which book different routines are in. |
