It's tough to find comparable DC wins to Marvel's casting Robert Downy Jr as Iron Man and the fun of Ryan Reynolds Deadpool.

The Deadpool movies especially really hit it out of the park, even with their side characters.

In DC, pretty much every live action Alfred has been perfect.

Does anyone else feel like The Batman 2 is getting about as likely to happen as another Game of Thrones book?

I saw somewhere that The Batman 2 is definitely not happening.

As long as James Gunn is in charge, it seems.

DC's Metamorpho will finally get his comeuppance in the new Superman movie. Hopefully they will tone down Sapphire's amorous antics which used to always annoy me. Even her Father's arrogance was tolerable and even entertaining, compared to her.

Anybody seen Preacher? That shows is off the rails insane... in a good way, I think.

Legendary DC/Marvel writer/editor Jim Shooter passed away. RIP Jim Shooter (1951-2025). https://aiptcomics.com/2025/06/30/marvel-comics-jim-shooter/

From what I've heard, there won't be a Simon Stagg in the current Superman movie in spite of Rex Mason's appearance. But if Metamorpho had his own movie, then no doubt Stagg would be there too.
Actually I like Metamorpho much more than Superman because Rex Mason is a freak, and I like freaks. Besides, Metamorpho's superpowers are more interesting than those of Superman. So I'm glad that the Superman premiere includes Metamorpho.

The comic book source material was fun. For creepy vampires... check out Alan Moore's story from Swamp Thing 39. This is all mid-late 1990s. I preferred Transmetropolitan at the time.

Any thoughts on Absolute Superman or Batman? Smile

Just a note - if you're a comics fan and planning to see the new Superman movie - check out All Star Superman.

I never much cared for Superman but I'm kind of wanting to see the new one. I think maybe it's just the state of the world but I kind of want to watch something not dark. Then again, maybe I don't want to spend the money. Guess I'll see.

This brief video clip provides a glimpse at Metamorpho in the new Superman film, which also looks at the actor Anthony Carrigan who plays Metamorpho. Also in the premiere will be Superman's Kryptonian dog,Krypto.

Is it James Gunn's smarmy interviews? No offense to smarmots, which are in my top ten favorite animals.

I've only seen a little of Absolute Batman and I like what I've seen. I didn't know if I would but I do. It's how I like my Batman best, jacked and intense. I also liked the Bane issue of those villain one-shots they did not too long ago where Bane is kind of redeemed. I love that guy.
We do family costumes for Halloween and one year we did DC villains and I was Bane with the original mask and it was one of my all-time favorite costumes. This year we're doing Marvel Heroes and I'm going to dress as Fat Thor.

I think my best costume was He11boy- for which I built everything myself including a working right hand of doom with moveable fingers. I also made my son a Lobster Johnson costume that year that I think was pretty awesome. He had the lobster brand on his glove that I made to glow. Unfortunately, that was right after COVID and my work canceled their costume contest that year.

I got into Swamp Thing because of his friendship with Constantine, who is another favorite character.

What looks like a glaring discrepancy is when Metamorpho appeared in the 1960s Justice League in the segment with Green Lantern. The point is that Rex Mason's freakish condition always makes him want to become normal again. So in that issue Green Lantern offers to use his power ring to restore Mason back to normal. As it turns out, the ring has no effect at all on Metamorpho, so Green Lantern concludes that it must be something yellow in Mason's body that prevents any restoration. The discrepancy I see here is that since Mason can change into any element that he could simply have changed into an element that is Non-yellow. So I don't buy Green Lantern's explanation. Maybe someone else here can come up with an explanation.

If he can change into ANYTHING...

Then why not just change back into being normal?

Let's put that on a different thread. Please add the text "*spoilers*" in the title so folks known on their way in to the discussion. Smile
