It does seem so.

If at all, Superman should have had a dog from Earth that he names Krypto (without even knowing why as he would have been too young), not one from Krypton. That would be fine.

To be fair, there was a time in the comics where that was cute and fun. As were the Legion and Superboy. But those came out monthly and every week brought several stories of bright colorful pages rather than a nostalgia trip as cosplay by no-names every three years.

Dimensional portals are a big "maybe" - to Kirby's Fourth World (or in the Fantastic Four - the Negative Zone) - or to wherever Mxy comes from. Smile

Bring on Morgan Edge, Jason Blood, and the strange world of Planetary. When the world and/or the characters are interesting ...

I felt like they were onto a good thing with the Constantine television series. The actor was accurate to the comics, the overall story was pretty good, other than the drowsy leading lady. Too bad it got cut short.

Bruce Wayne had a great dog in Batman Beyond. Ace was his name.

Repressed memory, maybe? I dunno. At least they didn't John Wick the dog trying to be "edgy."

The dog in John Wick was good. The other dog in one of the movies, the one wearing a coat concealing guns, maybe a bit much for a series.

Not sure about using TV show comic (silly) characters as canon. Batman wearing a purple cowl with white eyebrows... no thanks.

Batman Beyond in live action. Yes. Don't say "shway". Smile

To address the title topic, it seems like lately it's been a race to the bottom for both DC and Marvel.

True. Hopefully both get better.

Marvel Zombies was pretty good. I'm telling you, the animation is where the good stuff is for both.

No, no, no! I do NOT want to deal with meta-human ZOMBIES!

I guess you mean more mutant than meta-human?

It's not for everyone. Lots of sadness and gore. But pretty well done.

I thought CGI Krypto added some entertainment value. Drunk Supergirl, not so much.

I have just never enjoyed Krypto. (As much as I really enjoy dogs in my life oddly enough.) I don't know why. A guy from another planet, the whole red sun thing, the crashing to earth thing, the yellow sun affecting him as such and I somehow draw the line at his dog? Kind of dumb when you think of it.

I am certainly in the minority because they brought him back from the great beyond due to fan demand.

I guess Gunn's own dog was used as the 3D model for the dog in the movie. That is cool. Still doesn't make up for him being a dumb idea in my opinion.

Krypto is a dumb idea for the whole Superman lore. It can never be taken seriously with an alien dog in it as well as a humanoid alien.

I will die on that hill.

Wait until you get to Super HORSE!

Which was the name of the German Shepherd they introduced during the "Bat Family" craze in the '50's. "Ace, the Bathound." (They actually taught him how to put on a cape and cowl!)

This makes Terry's line near the end of the episode; "Good Bat dog." even funnier!

I don't think I was responding to the point you were making. I don't even want to discuss the concept of Marvel zombies.

I would say though, that not ALL of the Marvel super characters are mutants. Thus my comment on "meta human zombies" as opposed to "mutant zombies."

This is an odd way not to want to discuss Marvel Zombies.

I wish they would have done fewer superhero movies. Certainly fewer poor ones. It just seems tough to keep the genre relevant and exciting for an extended period of time.
