I just want to know if it's worth the $50 to get my people in. I'm not a rich man, financially. People-wise, I'm doing alright.

It’s heavy handed when it addresses issues. It has good moments where the characters work. then it’s back to action or overacting during dialogue.

Now that you mentioned Ra, it made me recall the 1960s animated series Birdman because Birdman gets his superpowers from Ra,the Sun God. Actually it's a discrepancy because in the beginning it was established that it's the personage of the actual Sun God. But then in subsequent episodes,it was shown to be just the solar rays. In other words,it changed from mythology to science-fiction. It would have been better if they had stayed with the original idea of the Egyptian mythology in order to make it different from Superman's science-fiction explanation of the yellow sun. |

You're welcome, Orville.
Agreed that science (or science-fiction) in comics seems less interesting then mythology.
In "The Dark Knight Returns" there's a big moment where Superman gets energy from the Sun. In "All Star Superman" the sun has an important role at the start and end.
You might enjoy those stories. DC still has lots of fun characters and stories to try on the big screen. Jack Kirby did some impressive things on the page which could work on the big screen.

Dark Knight Returns is my favorite Batman story. I didn't like Miller's sequels to it, though. I think Absolute has a similar feel to it.

I would STILL like to see DC do a take on "Rose and the Thorn."

In the current Superman film, Metamorpho is played by actor Anthony Carrington which would persuade a fan of the Gotham TV series to attend the premiere because in the Gotham series,Carrington plays Victor Zsaz the psychopath.

The Animated Dark Knight Returns might be my favorite Batman movie(s). But there's a fan-made Dark Knight Returns live action which is extremely faithful to the comic.
The animated Long Halloween was pretty good too. Maybe oddly, out of the mainstream movies I liked the Burton Batman movies best overall. Affleck looked the most like Batman and I wish he'd have been given a chance at more well received movies. The Bale movies were good but not perfect. I really hated that the big plot twist in the last one was "Bane's a simp." Comic Bane was so much more of a menace. He was pretty close to Batman's intellectual equal. He didn't just outmuscle him, he outsmarted him first.

There's one I'd like to see; "Haunted Knight." It's an adaptation of "A Christmas Carol," with Bruce examining where "Batman" is taking him, on the night before Halloween!

As a result the Kryptonite in the Sun affected its solar rays, which,in turn, adversely affected Superman. Consequently, if Superman steps out into the sunlight, he loses his powers, which means that all of his super-feats had to be done in the shade. For example, when a cargo airplane in flight got engine trouble issuing out thick smoke, with the plane plunging downward. Instead of lifting the plane from below, Superman had to instead carry the plane at its tail-end so that he would be shielded from the Sun by the thick smoke issuing upwards. |

TIL that the training plot of Batman Begins of him learning ninjutsu at a mountain temple was all from a 1989 comic, except it wasn't R'as Al Ghul that taught him it was a dude named Kirigi and it was in North Korea. Even some of the dialogue was used.

Well I watched Superman. It wasn't horrible but I'm glad I didn't pay to see it in the theater. There were a couple of things I really liked and a couple of things I really didn't like.
I'll leave it at that for now.

About Superman; I liked the introduction of "pocket universe" as way to introduce the larger DC storyverse.

The popcorn, the screen, the seats, oversized stupid drinks. That is half the fun for me.

Seems like another reboot is in store for DC, from what I've heard.
