I didn't like the animated super pets movie. Even if John Wick did play Batman in it.

I remember there was a Krypto series. (Superman left Krypto with a young boy. Not sure why) At one point, Krypto meets Ace the Bathound (voice by Kevin Conroy, of course!)

KRYPTO: I know you! You're Batman's pet.

ACE: PARTNER! I'm his PARTNER!

To be fair, there was a time in the comics where that was cute and fun. As were the Legion and Superboy. But those came out monthly and every week brought several stories of bright colorful pages rather than a nostalgia trip as cosplay by no-names every three years.

Dimensional portals are a big "maybe" - to Kirby's Fourth World (or in the Fantastic Four - the Negative Zone) - or to wherever Mxy comes from. Smile

Bring on Morgan Edge, Jason Blood, and the strange world of Planetary. When the world and/or the characters are interesting ...

If you mean the Silver Age, then yes, comics were pure fun at that time. Nowadays the comics are too dark, and the superheroes are just as evil as the villains. Or at least I cannot tell the difference between superheroes and supervillains as far as actions go. And deaths and killings happen so often nowadays. In comparison, in the Silver Age, if a death happened, it was a heroic self-sacrifice, for example, the death of Ferro Lad against the Sun-Eater.

The first time I saw Superman go bad I thought that was the greatest idea for the character ever.
But the tenth time I saw Superman go bad...

Comics are always aimed at the current generation, not the past. This is why they recycle stories so much.

They don’t want to kill characters because of the time it takes to develop them.

Storytelling is hard.

Marvel has made it easier more by making really bad movies too.

Are they "bad?" Or are they just not as good? Plus, we're all kind of burned out on the Marvel Universe at this point.

I honestly haven't had a chance to see any of them. I was interested in "The Marvels," but I haven't watched anything since "Endgame."

The real problem is that they make almost the same movie just with different characters.

DC and Marvel have in the past joined forces to produce once-unthinkable crossovers: Superman vs. Spider-Man, Batman vs. the Hulk, et cetera.

Wonder if the movies will ever catch up? I'm sure it would be a legal rights/licensing/IP nightmare, but if the comics could work out agreements... too many slices and layers of the studios' cinematic ownership pie to be feasible?

Be fun to see, on the big screen, Superman squaring off against Thor, or Batman going after Daredevil, or Aquaman hunting for Prince Namor (Sub-Mariner).
For a supernatural chiller mixing magic (prestidigitation, legerdemain) with Magic (theurgy, thaumaturgy, mysticism), check out my novel MAGIC: AN OCCULT THRILLER at http://www.amazon.com/Magic-Occult-Thriller-Reed-Hall/dp/1453874836

NEVER going to happen. Not only different comic book companies, but different film studios. Just look at the issues with Spiderman and the FF with Sony. The paperwork would be a nightmare. Not to mention who comes out on top.
