Re: Dr. Strange. I still say that casting Cumberbatch as the good doctor is one of the most brilliant pieces of casting I've seen in years.

Not only Cumberbatch but also Jonathan Rhys Meyers would have made a great Dr. Strange. Unfortunately, from what I heard, Meyers is at a drug rehab clinic, so now we have Cumberbatch instead, which is just as good, or even better!

Not a big Dr Strange fan but, definitely looking forward to Cumberbatches portrayal.

I already know that there will be a Justice League movie, but what about the "other" Justice League called Justice League DARK? It's a group composed of magical-type characters such as Zatanna and the Demon, who take on supernatural-type menaces which the regular Justice League does not. Is it just a rumor or will there be a JL-D film?
Interesting twist on the Demon is that instead of a demon possessing a human, it's a human "possessing" a demon--although in that case, possession might be a misnomer which is why I added quotation marks.
Anyway, since John Constantine (of JL-D) had his own movie already, so why not the JL-D?

Surprisingly, Marvel's Deadpool made it to first place again, two weeks in a row. I did not expect that of Deadpool, and although the character does not appeal to me, it still gladdens me when any superhero makes to the top of the box office. Well, in a few short months, the next X-men film is to premiere. That one, I'll definitely attend, as I've attended every X-men film so far.

Here's DC's latest list of future movies.

http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Upcoming-......407.html

They'll be bringing us individual movies for Wonder Woman, Flash, Aquaman, Cyborg, Green Lantern Corp and very interestingly an unannounced date but planned on Sandman movie.

I wish I could get more excited about the Batman Superman offering this month. Two of my favorite all time charecters. I like the story line. It is just that they have underwhelmed me so many times with Sups I am cautious.

I liked what they did with the Christian Bale offerings, though the last one faded in my opinion.

The introduction of Diana is interesting. I think my biggest worry is obviously Ben Affleck doing for the Batman what he did for Daredevil. (Man I REALLY liked the Netflix offering of that.)

I am an Aquaman fan. When a while ago they dogs the physics on it and figured out how fast and strong and tough he must be to live on the ocean bottom he became cool to me. Since he got the hook and attitude I have really liked him. I hope that they do well with it.

Never been a Cyborg fan. Still will watch it though. I am a fan of the Flah on TV, I hope they don't bother with an origin story.

For those who are fans of Marvel's Dr. Strange, DC's counterpart, namely Doctor Fate is back again. Little bit different now, as Paul Levitz tries to give it a fresh treatment with Fate's helmet being used by a new person. For my personal tastes, when comparing ancient mythologies that DC Comics uses, I prefer the Egyptian mythos used by Dr. Fate rather than the Greek kind used by Wonder Woman.

Clearly Marvel is wiping the floor with DC in the movie department. Having said that, though, The Dark Knight is still my favorite of all the superhero movies. That one has a nihilistic grit and realism that still gives me chills, thanks to Heath Ledger's inspired portrayal of the Joker.

The hero with the coolest initials has season 2 on Netflix. Good old DD is back! I am only on episode 1 but like it.

The animated feature "The killing joke" is coming... Mark Hamil is back as the voice of the Joker and Keven Conroy is back as Bruce/Batman. Assuming the quality is as good as it ought to be, this is the answer to the original post. How can DC catch up with Marvel? By producing quality films from quality scripts with strong continuity and good acting.

Hmmm, I don't think DC is going to catch up with Marvel with animated features. Just sayin.

So basically doing the exact opposite of almost everything to date?

There have been some really good pieces of DC animation. Justice League Doom was good. I also do not think that it is a way to catch up.

Captain America Civil War looks very good. Batman Superman looks not stop great.

Oh, I don't know. I actually think Batman V Superman is looking pretty good. Definitely a different tone than Marvel which may be a good thing. If future DC movies follow the same tone, (which I think they will), it will provide a nice contrast to Marvel and make for nice variety. It will give people a lot to argue over on which is better.

This just seems odd and getting past Affleck as The Batman is tough for me.

The Sups movies have been better but to me by no means anywhere near as good as the Marvel offerings.

Batman and Sups are definite all time favorites of mine, and Lex Luthor is an interesting choice. He looks like he will pull it off well.

I will agree to have misgivings about Bats vs. Supes. I think Affleck will pull it off. My issue is that he is playing an older Jaded Batman while Henry Cavil is playing a younger less experienced Superman. I am curious to see how that works.

Yea that is one of the things I find odd.

I do have to mention Rockwall called the Guardians success WELL before it came out. He said it would be a huge hit blockbster uneqivically. He may have a mutant power here we don't know about so I am going to hedge based on that with the Sups Bats movie.

That was you wasn't it Rockwall? If not I am sorry.

Yep, that was me. I think I got lucky. I don't really understand the success of The Flash or Arrow so maybe my Kryptonite is DC shows.

Hey man you called it. No luck inolved brother!

Perhaps DC is tough to see for you but that does not mean you were lucky. Hopefully this will be good.
