Frankieacemagic,
Probably the best quality for the money that I have found for a case is at harbor freight. http://www.harborfreight.com/18-in-x-6-i......315.html

Thank you Paul!!! This is perfect.
Did you just attach a stand to it? Obviously I wouldn't just set it on my table because resting the puppet on the top would tip it. |

I gutted it out, bought a Pearl Trap Table - 18X24 http://www.steveweissmusic.com/product/pearl-trap-table/concert-percussion-hardware. I removed the table from the stand and was easily able to convert the case to fit on the stand. There are many other cheap stands you can buy that I'm sure will work with it. When I bought the Pearl stand it gave me all the hardware I needed to securely mount the case on the stand. The case comes off very easily and the stand folds up.

Howdy. On the last point of the stand and case, I use aluminum tool cases sourced from assorted hardware stores ($19-40) or vintage suitcases (thrift shops and garage sales) for my entire shows and the Eureka Table Base (various dealers -- Vanishing Rabbit in Canada is $85 or so post paid. This system allows any case to be a table. The base comes with one flange and you can add a 1/2 inch flange to other cases. I have 6 shows ready to go, all using the same base.
Dollar stores and Asian supper markets sell bamboo sushi mats -- that's what you're looking for. On the first point -- if you're so inflexible on the gags and script, you'll miss out on so much fun. Having a puppet adds personnel to the suitcase magician's performance. Designed those routines flexibly -- even when you adore the originator's script. |
