Some of you are probably going to reply to this post telling me that bobby maverick is a stand up guy and that he's just really busy. Well I'm sorry, but I'm busy too.

I ordered a busker gear vest from Bobby on July 5th this year... it never arrived. I have sent numerous messages through Facebook to Bobby trying to get him to send the vest and he has been continually evasive, often not replying and frequently promising that the vest has been shipped but continuously being unable to provide a tracking number. I messaged him three times over the last two days asking (demanding?) a tracking number and each message has been ignored.

Frankly I have given up all hope of ever seeing the vest I paid for and will report Bobby to the relevant authorities on Monday but just wanted to post this as a warning. Do not purchase from Bobby maverick or from Busker Gear.... just another in magic's illustrious line of rip off artists.

best

I understand you're upset but in my opinion, Bobby is a stand-up guy.
Perhaps an inquiry about "anyone heard anything from bobby" would be better to start with.

What size vest did you order? I have an extra one. Unless you're enormous, perhaps my extra will fit you and you can
have it.

Then Bobby can send me the other one when he's got more time.

PM me if you're interested.

Hi Frank... The problem is; I have heard from Bobby... And everything he has told me is a pack of lies. He has claimed the vest has shipped at least five times, promised tracking numbers etc etc but then ignores follow up enquiries and doesn't provide tracking. Before this I considered Bobby a friend... It's a shame but I don't think taking people's money and giving them the run around for months makes you one of the good guys; it makes you a crook (bobby, not you Frank).

I can't comment on Bobby, but sure seems like Frank is a stand up guy!

Bobby is a stand up guy, I just called him and talked to him about this so he knows what is being said about him. I don't think he sends things priority so wouldn't have a tracking number to check. If he says he sent you something he sent it.

Guys.... Bobby has claimed that he sent the vest at least five times, he has promised a tracking number every time. no tracking number has ever been sent and nor, to my knowledge, has any vest. This is not a post office issue, I wish it were, this is an issue with Bobby's management of his business. It's been nearly two and a half months now... in that time Bobby could have walked from Cincinatti to my house to deliver the vest personally.

Paddy, I am aware that bobby is a friend of yours and I admire your loyalty. If you search busker gear on this forum you'll find a post by someone who had a similar issue... you'll also notice that in that thread I took up for Bobby just as you have here... if you search elsewhere on the Café you'll find quite a few threads where people have had bad experiences with busker gear.

Frank, thank you so much for your kind offer. My dealings with you have always been smooth and you really are one of the good guys. but were I to accept it I feel that I would be passing my problem on to another, and I'd feel bad about that.

Last night I messaged Bobby on Facebook simply asking him to reimburse my money. He has ignored that message. I think that says a lot about him.

What I know is that at the Kutztown Magic fest last year Bobby took extra time to talk with a youngster just starting out in magic and also gave him some things.
I know it doesn't speak to the missing vest, but it does speak to him being a person that I enjoy being around.

There is no doubt that Bobby Maverick is an amiable guy... But he has effectively stolen my money.

As someone who sells magic, I can say that only one time has a package of mine been completely lost.
It was an overseas package and I did provide a customs number for tracking, and it was lost in their country.
Nothing I could do about Singapore mail system, but I still feel bad about it to this day.

That being said...
For in country orders, tracking is a must. You have to get tracking. Even if you send it first class or parcel post, you can still get tracking, and again it is a must.
For one thing, if you don't, the buyer can claim that they didn't get their package and you will have no recourse. If purchased through paypal, they will give you your money back if the shipper doesn't have proof with tracking.
That has happened before as well. People trying to rip me off, claiming they didn't get their package. They contacted paypal and started a dispute. It was a good thing I had tracking, and I won both times someone tried that.
I have also had times when packages were really lost, and with the tracking number, we were able to find it. That has happened several times.
Tracking is a must.

I feel for you Tom. You deserves a tracking number at the very least. If you paid with paypal, contact them.
If paid with a card, contact your card company. Do it now. You only have a certain amount of time, and it might already be too late.

Then wouldn't it have solved a lot of problems if he said; "I sent it, but I don't have a tracking number because I didn't use priority." Instead of promising tracking numbers and not delivering? And frankly, "stand up guy" or not, not using a system that allows you to track your packages strikes me as unprofessional.

D. Yoder - I'm certain Bobby is a terrific human being. He just doesn't seem to be someone I would trust with my money or to send me a product.

I love my vest I got from him but I also have to say it took a long time to get it. I also had a hard time contacting him and when I did I felt it was lie after lie. He even told me that the place where the vests were made caught on fire and had to remake my vest. Anyways I don't thin hes a bad guy or don't mean to burn anybody he is just slow and getting them made and shipped and then tries to lie about it to cover it up. But my vest is really well made. There has been MANY complaints about Buskers Gear. He seems to run out of vests but still takes your money.

I didn't hear back from him until I initiated a Paypal dispute. Then he sent a vest twice the size with the *suggestion* that I take it to my own tailor to get it fixed. The EXACT same thing happened to another Café member. Once could be a mistake, twice is deliberate!

In my experience he is not an honest businessman!!

Well, it's another day and still no vest in the mail. Bobby seems to have decided that the best way to deal with me is to ignore all my messages.

Sadly the issue is now in the hands of the Better Business Bureau since I allowed the allotted time to initiate paypal dispute to elapse under the, clearly unfounded, assumption that Bobby was a friend and would not therefor rip me off.

This is about the saddest, most avoidable conflict I have ever experienced... I'm really gutted about this.

Thanks for all the thoughts, support and help guys... I appreciate it.

Mr Hughes,
Just out of curiosity, how much does Bobby Maverick owe you from
this failed sale transaction?

I just wanted to find out how much losing your friendship was worth to said individual.
Perhaps others were curious as well, but too embarrassed to ask. There is the matter of
wire fraud in this case.

A few years ago I was "kidnapped" while travelling... it cost me $40 in American Express Travellers Checks to buy myself out. I guess my friendship is worth 3 times the value of my life... good to know.

Last week I had an attractive young lady offer to be my friend for $40. I only had $20 on me so we settled on being casual acquaintances.
