Congrats.
It is very interesting, after so many years, a card magician wins AGT. I thought no-one liked card tricks!

The fact that a close up magician won AGT especially on that huge stage at Radio City is amazing.

I think Mat is a wonderful performer and so happy he won.
It also helped that Piers Morgan and Sharon Osborne are no longer judges on the show. They in particular were the ones always pushing for big illusions and complaining that anything smaller than a huge prop just wouldn't work on a big stage. Congrats Mat, you done good!!! |

Wow, I saw this and could not believe my eyes. Of course I love magic and focused on the magic each week which was really great that there so much of it, but I was surprised he won because he beat out some amazing acts. Is Matt a Member here? Either way, CONGRATULATIONS MATT!

Mat did us ALL proud! He is a credit to our profession.
I'm so glad there are feelings of good will toward him in lieu of jealousy. When someone like Mat wins, we ALL win. He is GOOD NEWS in the face of such ilk as the masked magician. It takes someone like Mat to help combat the negative rap that magic and magicians often get in our modern society. I think it's true that collectively we probably don't have an inkling just how much his winning will benefit us all in the future. But surely this is like a pebble that has been cast into the lake that will cause ripples that will be felt throughout the entire magic community. And these are FAVORABLE ripples. I'm smiling from ear to ear, feeling a huge wave of happiness inside as I contemplate what transpired last night. I'm happy for Mat, and I'm happy for all of us. Happy, happy, joy, joy! Look up guys. The future looks bright.
The difficult must become easy, the easy beautiful and the beautiful magical.

Congrats to Mat!
I think the way people feel towards him in the community is due to Mat himself, the way he carries and presents himself and the respect he has for the industry and community. Today there are many that have an arrogant, entitlement and cocky/bad boy attitude (which I guess is fashionable), and Mat is more real, humbled and respectful and most can't help but like him and what he offers. As said many times here it is not about the effects or tricks you perform, it is is about having a likable, marketable personality, making an emotional connection with audiences and then having the skills to support it all. Mat has the whole package and the community should be proud. I for one would like him to realize the possibility he has to better the community and the way it has been perceived in recent years. I hope everyone supports him and goes and sees him in his new performance home in Vegas after the AGT tour. |

First of all, the winner headlines America's Got Talent Live from Planet Hollywood on the Las Vegas Strip, which is part of a 25-city tour that features the top 12 finalists. It isn't exactly a "vegas home" - more like 2 nights in Las Vegas - September 26th and 27th 2014. Also, since we are on the subject - regarding the money... if you read the fine print on the screen the million dollar prize is actually a 40-year long annuity, or the contestant may choose to receive the present cash value of such annuity which is about $4000,000, and although nothing to sneeze at it isn't a million bucks, and the $$$ is payment for those live performances in 25 cities. Not trying to diminish Mat's win, but I thought it was important to correct the thought that he will have a permanent show in Las Vegas during his stint with AGT. I am sure that a casino will be smart enough to pull him in full-time, if that's what he wants to do.

Are you kidding me?! America got it wrong. IMO Franco, should not even had made the top 12. David and Leeman were 100x better and STILL not as good as Emily West. I am literally shocked. No wonder this country is going down the tubes. They can't even spot good, quality entertainment when they see it.

AGT is all rigged and the fix is in before the first show of the season is aired. Its phoney as a 3 dollar bill.
