I've used the Search feature, I've looked through the threads on each of the topics I thought would be pertenant (sp) and I can't find the thread I'm looking for.
There was a discussion on "Do What You Love" the general consensus being that it's a mistake to give up your bread and butter job to pursue an iffy career in art. I found an example that was perfect. We have a company magazine here at Wal-Mart, this month's issue has to do with "talent." There is a Wal-Mart associate in North Carolina, named Eric S. Brown who wrote short stories on his own time and sent them to "genre magazines," managing to sell quite a few. In time, he managed to sell a novel "The War of the Worlds, Plus Blood, Guts and Zombies" Then in 2013, one of his "cult hits" ("Bigfoot War" was optioned for a movie starring C. Thomas Howell and Judd Nelson. With his advance, he could have quit his job but chose to stay. His wife on the other hand has left her position as a teacher to spend more time at home with their children.

It was in Not Very MS.
It was Landmark (or maybe it was Lobo) If you search their posts for the last 30 days you should find it.
If you need fear to enforce your beliefs, then your beliefs are worthless.

Thanks. I'll copy the important part and put it in there. (I did look though)

Hi Ed!
Thanks for a great story! When I was 6,going on 7, I saw Stanley the Magician. It was a turning point in my life! I decided, then and there, to forget about being a fireman (!). I decided to be a magician!. And, I did! For 76 years, I've "done what I loved!" It has been great!

I'm glad that it worked for you, but the point of the story was that he did what he loved WHILE still working behind a counter helping people get their photos printed.

I ran into a magician working the cash register in the electronics section at a Wal-Mart. Did a nice French drop with the change for the lady in front of me. Told me he picks up private party bookings and such through his job constantly.
