Would be great if someone from the Elite Team would join this conversation.

look like a toy especially with "Ultra Tube" printed on it.

yes I agree, I never understood why they had put the name of the trick on the props, it's as if the tube screaming "I'm gimmicked !". Too bad. It's funny for "fan service" but not great for perfomring.
Fortunately, the Elite version is more sober and just look like a strange and maybe really magical wooden tube, unfortunally I'll never get one unless they send me one to review and add on the blog. But I doubt it happens ^^

It was Akira Yamada, the head of the Tenyo company, who insisted that the names of the tricks be printed on Ultra Slice and Ultra Tube, and Squeeze Play.

FYI: the initial run of Ultra Tube did NOT have the name printed on the product. Nor does it have "Created and Manufactured by Tenyo, Japan" on the back. Because of this, it is impossible to tell which side is gimmicked!

I'd like to see Tenyo do a "Classics" line! I'm not condemning Tenyo Elite's Ultra Tube but when you're dealing with a moving part that is crucial to the working of the effect (that is made out of wood) there seems like there would be a huge margin of error. This is a small prop that's delicate. I have not seen the prop but can't imagine the wood is that thick in places. ALL wood warps and for $300 I would certainly hope this won't. Again... TENYO CLASSICS LINE REMADE BY TENYO! Richard knows they still have all the molds (or maybe most of them) What older items would you like to see remade by Tenyo?

I would love to see the follow items released in a "Classics" line:

Ninja Experiment
Tunnel of Darkness
Floating Lady
Space Walking Coins
Black Hole
Wonder Window

(Just to name a few)

I would pick: (talkin old school here)

Ultra Tube
Super Cubio
Tunnel Of Darkness
Floating Lady
See Thru Guillotine
Phanto Block

Honorable mention to Wonder Window. Would like the mechanism to work better though!

I have not asked about it, but my guess would be that Tenyo no longer has the molds for older items they no longer manufacture.

I'd be surprised if as a manufacturing company they do not. I just bought an Evil Knievel Stunt Set for my son for Christmas that was made from the original Ideal Toys molds from the early 70's. As a vintage toy collector, I know most of these molds are archived. Would be interested, Richard if you could find out.

OK- it's been 7 years. Those of you who have and use the Elite Utra Tube,,,, Has the wood held up? How is it to perform with? Better or worse than the original plastic one?

Great question Ed. I am wondering the same thing. As for my Elite Ultra Tube, it looks brand new and it works great. However, I keep it in a beautiful ornate box that was made just keep the Ultratube in. Also, I only performed with it a hand full of times since it was gifted to me. I have not used in a walk-around situation for any paid gigs. However, I have been thinking of using it as part of a larger dice routine or gambling demonstration..

One of the last living 10-in-one performers. I wanted to be in show business the worst way, and that was it.
