To answer Piglet's question, there are many effects like that one. Lee Asher has a few out such as Wipe Your Ace. It's on his website.
Many (not all) of Oz's efffects are his version or elaborated versions of other famous tricks. I like Card Magic of LePaul. It's kind of like a step up (more difficult) from Royal Road (get Royal Road if you don't have it). Paper Machine (Aaron Fisher) is also very good. |

AOA and The Collected Works of Alex Elmsley were brilliant choices. Now try Smoke and Mirrors. This is a great book with off-the-wall effects that are not that difficult but pack a wallop. Also try Ammar's ETMCM.

Although Mike Close's presentation is not so outstanding, I would suggest his DVD series (1-4). There are plenty of good tricks and they are all practical. (He mentioned he doesn't suggest people to use anyone's presentation; everyone should work out their own presentation.)
Bill Malone also has a lot of commercial routines in his series and he is very good to watch. |

What you need to do is read the classics. Everyone has at least one in their book or video. The four ace trick for example, learn as many different versions as you can. Then routine your own version with the best parts of all.
Magically yours,

Here's a different spin...I found many excellent routines in back issues of MAGIC, GENII, LINKING RING, and other magazines. You can usually pick up a handful of issues very inexpensively at magic shops and magic auctions.
