With a review like that from Prof BC, I have no choice but to get this !
Knowing Bobby's release from before, I was going to get anyway ... But, Prof BC added icing to the cake. Sounds like killer Routines, with Outstanding Props ! ( If they are props and not real artifacts ) ~G

While I was so impressed with "Inferno" upon receiving it that I wanted to immediately post a review, I've been holding off until I got a chance to actually perform it. I had the opportunity to finally do so last night and as high as my hopes were, if far surpassed my expectations in performance!
The props are first-rate (I would never know these aren't the real McCoy) and, as MindGuerrila has said, the things even "smell right". The minute you read the guide, you know this is a routine that will let you flex your dramatic muscle and can be taken in nearly any direction. Performing it is what really opened my eyes, though. It’s so... real. I don’t know how else to put it. It's so absolutely, undeniably "real" in the presentation, the feelings it evokes, and the genuine impact left upon the spectators. It's rare that spectator reactions to a routine actually affect me, but the reactions of the folks last night was really tugging at my heart. They *felt* it. Three of the spectators last night were foreign, and I had a momentary concern that it wouldn't strike as deep a chord in them as it would folks from here in the US. I couldn't have been more wrong. I ended up selecting one of them (a young lady from the UK that is just visiting) to do the routine with, and she was engaged from the word "go". She cried. Her husband (also from the UK) cried. It didn’t matter who was from what country--people were moved. So, to anyone that was (like I) wondering where all Inferno would work, I can assuredly say: these routines and this story are so powerful that they transcend borders. I don’t care where you live, you *have* to get this. This isn’t American history; this is about humanity. |

I echo the very positive sentiments that the others here have offered in the form of high praise for both the props as well as the thinking that goes into the routining that Bobby has brought forth. If you are on the fence as to whether or not you purchase this effect, I suspect it will exceed your hopes. It is well worth what is charged and plays very strong for the specs...it connects in an emotional way with the specs, which means it is far more likely to be remembered for quite some time (in a very positive and respectful way).
Highly recommended!! All the best, David |

Only, in response to the concerns raised above about low light bsnues, etc, I was suggesting that AFTER the routine is over, if a spec questions the readability, a magnifying glass could be offerred (side note: reference the readability factor of the k€y in the final reveal of Prof BC's Haun£€d In*$ of €ngl@nd)

I tried to resist but being the proud owner of a codex I couldn't...
edit. I got the pdf moments after paying for the effect and I must say I genuinely got the chills when I read it. What a beautiful piece. I look forward to receiving the props.

One of the fun parts of owning "Inferno" is assembling additional props to give the performance atmosphere, as I already discussed down in the Crypt.
For those who own the effect, if you do a search on Etsy with the right name and year, you'll find something decorative and "cheap as chips." |

I got a chance to perform this again impromptu with a couple we had over for brunch, which wouldn't normally seem like the opportune setting/time but the conversation headed towards a similar subject... so, I gave it a go. I think it went even better than last time. This really is a very intelligent piece. And, unlike a lot of effects, it's for intelligent audiences. Can't recommend this enough considering the mileage I'm getting out. |

Pasteboard Alchemist,
Glad to hear it has been working so well for you in the real performances. Great that you were able to give it a go in an informal setting. Anyone else got any performance stories about Inferno? I am waiting with baited breath in a tent by my letterbox for it to arrive |

Okay, full disclosure:
I met Bobby a little over a year ago at a local SAM meeting. He unveiled and performed Codex at that meeting. (I was thrilled to post here on the Café and let our bizarre community know about this tremendous effect.) Since that time, we have become good friends. Many of you have never actually met Bobby and yet you know he's a great guy from the way he conducts business, his willingness to help others, and his devotion to the bizarre arts. I was able to watch as Inferno evolved over the past year as Bobby refined the routines and put all the pieces together. There were numerous occasions where Bobby could have cut corners. Saved on his expense and increased his profit margin. But, he didn't. Doing so would have resulted in a less than perfect product. He has spent an incredible amount of effort, time, and money to bring this effect to our community. His perfectionism could be described as an unhealthy obsession (you would not believe how many Codex and tickets he destroyed because they were not aged perfectly). With that said, I'll try my best to give an impartial review. I love Inferno. Those of you who have Inferno, know why. It is an extremely powerful effect with so many layers and options for personalized presentation. The routines for this are truly only limited by your imagination. There is a discussion going on down in the Crypt with some great ideas. This is a haunting - historical effect in which the atmosphere generated will stay with the participant and spectators a long, long time. It is a powerful, meaningful, experience where a spectator discovers a previously unknown ability to cross time and space to connect with a tragic event. It can be played soft and emotional or mysterious and very dark. (I’ve been considering using some pictures and possibly video to add to the presentation, but....this might be too much?) Down in the Crypt, MindGuerrilla mentions a book. My advice...get it. I've read the book and it will add to your presentation. So, if you don't have Inferno...get it. Order it now! You will not regret it. If you don't take my word for it, how about Prof BC: Quote:

Just got the book you mentioned, MG (I didn't find it for a buck... $3 here, but still not bad!) The thing is a goldmine of information to pull additional presentation ideas/nuances from. Thanks!

I just ordered this and am going to sit by the door until it comes. I saw Bobby put this on at our Phoenix SAM meeting last month and it scared the you know what out of me. I plan to combine it with The Knowing Game into a real spook fest.
We are very fortunate to have both Steve (Knowing Game) and Bobby as members of our SAM chapter. More, Guys, More. |

It isn't often that I get excited about a new prop. I use the term prop purposefully. I like routines a lot, but generally props leave something to be desired for me. I like to collect or create my own. I like props that don't look like props. To be honest, I like props that AREN'T props, but rather, the real thing.
I took a look at this and I am excited about what I am seeing. These props look like the real deal. Also considering the fact that I perform sideshow as part of my show, this is something that I couldn't resist getting. It is on the way and I will post an update once I have these in hand. I am very much looking forward to this based on everyone's reviews and what I see online. Halloween is my Christmas! |

C0dex and now this!
I'm sure it is great, from all the positive reviews and Bobby's reputation. He is selective of what he put's is name on and is a great person to do business with. I'm very interested in this story as I have ties to the circus world. This routine is a great complement to our spooky offerings and to a bygone era we all love.

Inferno is a fine routine because you can approach it from so many different interesting paths...animals, children, dancers, clowns, performers, workers, town folk, rumors and more!
Many different hooks into the main story. Folks are having fun personalizing this effect. I think Bobby Hasbun has created an absolute spooky classic here. |

Wow a "spooky classic", Eddie?
That's a great recommendation. Since I own C0dex which I consider a classic, I have just ordered it...
